Taylor comments

Angell Delight

Life President
Peter Taylor comments on pulling out of the race for the Charlton job:

"I am very, very happy at Hull City and was never entirely convinced about leaving."

Roughly translated means:

"I had an interview but can see quite clearly there are a few ahead of me in the queue for the job and don't want to miss out and give Hull a reason to sack me!"

I don't think it means that at all. Hence Billy Davies being approached today only after Taylor backed out. I think he just doesn't fancy having another Leicester on his hands, which is what Charlton potentially are.

I get the impression Taylor was the man they wanted and he just didn't fancy the job. Why give up a secure job for one that could easily go belly up. He followed Fry at Southend, O'neill at Leicester and both went wrong and now following Curbishley won't be an easy task.

Any manager (even Wenger or Jose Mourinho) in the world would find it tough at Southend if Tilson done an unthinkable & walk out on Southend.

I cannot see anyone can take Tilson place & do an better job - unless Southend got £Million£ to throw around.

Oh so you don't think Pearson(?) the Hull Chairman saying yesterday morning they were actively seeking a replacement for Taylor in view of his interview had anything to do with it then?

Anyone think - like me - that perhaps something will be happening for Taylor in the England set up once Sven has gone! Therefore he did not want to take on Charlton as could jeopadise possible England involvement.

I sincerely hope not....

Possibly but in the short-term I know what I think......

I think he knew that he was set up for a fall at Charlton to be honest.

Ive always felt Taylor was overated and originally got good press after taking over a successful side and doing well. What is often missed is he then manages to take that successful side and turn them into a poor one. I think that would have happened at Charlton too...
