All Day Auction
We have in our possession several items of great significance up for auction today.
Our first item is an official England matchball, which has been kindly donated by The FA. This was used in the 5-1 victory over Kazakhstan in the 2010 World Cup qualifier held on Saturday 11 October 2008. This fantastic piece of memorabilia has been signed by the England manager, Fabio Capello, under whom all England fans hope will lead the country onto victory in South Africa next year.
Our second item is a limited edition Southend United “poppy” shirt which has been signed by Steve Tilson, Paul Brush and Adam Barrett. These limited edition shirts were produced for Southend United’s match at home to Essex rivals Colchester United to mark Remembrance Day. This thrilling game ended 3-3, with Jean Francois Christophe equalising for the mighty blues deep into stoppage time.
And finally, we are also able to put up for auction the yellow away Southend United shirt worn by Jean Francois Christophe when Southend United travelled to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea in the FA Cup. This game saw Southend with their backs to the walls for the majority of the game, but roared on by 6,000 Shrimpers in the stands, Peter Clarke was able to score an equaliser late in the game to ensure that this seasons FA Cup finalists had to return to Roots Hall for a replay. This shirt has been signed by “Jeff” himself and is a real collector’s piece.
We will be able to take your maximum bids throughout the day if you are unable to attend in the evening when the auction will close. Final bids to be provided by 9pm. We are delighted to offer these superb items and we hope to see some strong bidding!
Hardest Shot Competition
During the course of the day we are running a “Hardest Shot Competition” which can be found on the Five-a-side pitch adjacent to the main pitch. At only £1 a shot, it is a great chance to demonstrate once and for all who has the hardest shot in your team. Whoever has the hardest shot over the course of the day will win a prize.
Raffle
We will be selling raffle throughout the day, which will be drawn in the PlayFootball function suite at the end of the day. We have a great first prize on offer – a weekend away for two at The Brickwall Hotel, Seedlescombe, Sussex with complimentary Dinner, Bed and Breakfast – this has very kindly been donated by UK Media Group Ltd. We also have number of other fantastic items to be won including a signed Southend United shirt among many more. Tickets are priced at £3 a strip, or £5 for two strips.
Guess the Goals Sweepstake
We will be running a “Guess the Goals Sweepstake”, where for only £1 you will draw a number between 30 and 160. Whoever picks the right number of goals is the winner. Could a debatable penalty awarded in the 923rd minute be the difference between winning and losing? Prize to be announced on the day.
