SZ Totty Cup - HAVE YOUR VIEWS

There's no doubt that the initial Totty Cup was a success, and it looks like we're set for another round - this time managed and run by our good friend Irish_Shrimper.

From comments I've read on the Zone, while lots of fun was had, there were also some who felt that the Totty Cup was not such a good thing due to its domination of the pub (and other reasons).

In the interests of fairness, since it's everyone's board, and since I_S isn't going to kick this off for another week, I thought I'd take the opportunity to get everyone's ideas for the best format.

My suggestion would be a round per day as before (so as not to drag out the competition) but to limit the number of threads to a maximum of four in any given day, as follows:

(M) Day 1: Round 1: Matches 1-4 (Monday)
(T) Day 2: Round 1: Matches 5-8 (Tuesday)
(W) Day 3: Round 2: Quarter Finals: 4 threads
(T) Day 4: Round 3: Semi Finals: 2 threads
(F) Day 5: Round 4: Final: 1 thread

I'd also suggest that any draws, commentaries, half-time scores, updates etc should take place in the threads themselves, and would ask the moderators to immediately remove/merge any other Totty Cup threads.

I feel that this wouldn't then overly dominate the normal business of the Pub, and allow those with no interest in the competition to use the board as they would normally.

By merging threads, you mean people are not supposed to start separate threads trying to garner support for their chosen contestant?

Yeah and no vote rigging.....

Names should be against pics and the "sponsors" efforts at securing votes should also be taken into consideration when voting.

Im all for it, anything that brightens up an otherwise dull day is ok by me and if anyone else does'nt agree with it then I say sod em! They don't have to read it do thay :finger:

My problem is this:

1) Whilst the pretty ladies are nice to look at, the half of the office that can see my screen may disagree. The appropriateness may well come in to question when nips are on display (as they frequently are!)

2) To deal with this, I have to disable pictures in threads. Unfortunately, this renders the threads almost completely pointless and uninteresting!

3) a) Given that the threads have no value any more, the pub offers way below the usual high standard.

3) b) A large portion of the creativity pot appears to be taken up creating these threads and the other threads suffer as a result.


As a result, this tends to dull my otherwise bright day. Sod me. I won't be doing much on the pub then!
