Swansea Program on BBC1 (SUFC related)

Did anyone else see the program on Swansea on BBC1 last night?

Showed them 10 years ago when they were on the brink of going out in the football league in a worse state than we are currently. They forced their chairman then out with large protests. The chairman was actually scared at games and sold up after it got out of control.

Why has that not happened here, especially when Ron has managed the club more poorly than their chairman did?

The difference is they have a few thousand nutty Welshman and we have a few hundred committed moaners.

The game has changed a lot in ten years. A lot of the type of fans who would be more likely to protest have been priced out of watching football now. I remember our fans protesting a lot about Jobson in my early days including a sit-down on the pitch IIRC. All part of the suits' plan...

The Liberty Stadium opened in 2005 to provide a home to Swansea City AFC and Ospreys Rugby whilst giving Swansea a facility to be proud of. Driven by the vision of City and County of Swansea Council, the Liberty Stadium was built along with the Morfa Retail Park just a few minutes from Swansea City Centre. http://www.liberty-stadium.com/liberty_stadium_introduction.php

The ousted Swansea chairman was a mere player. RM is trying to provide just what Swansea Council did. All those that want to believe something should be done, a consortium or whatever, had better be sure that any RM replacement would be trying to do as much.
The only alternative years ago would have been for our council to have actually done something. I know many on here seem to think the council have done well by us, well I don't. Citing Swansea makes you realise what could have been and all to the benefit of the town.
Well RM has taken on the challenge in the prolonged absence of anyone else so its time we appreciated the opportunity his actions are giving us. Lets get on with supporting our club, which includes the chairman, and see where we are in ten years.
And when, as they will, people criticise my post, for once I hope that they put up or shut up. Dip their hand in their pocket to buy the club or actually name someone that will. As that won't happen then RM is our best hope. Deal with it!

Can anyone provide any details on what the exact situation was with their Chairman and what the similarities are with our situation?

I was still bitter watching that clip when they showed them getting promoted at Bury as I was celebrating a ghost goal in dreary Grimsby.

Definitely a lot of truth to this.

Should we be forcing out the Council first then?

Been said and done before. Offers are very rarely made for something which isn't for sale.

Sorry I don't have millionaire contacts. I can't think of any chairman who were known to fans and eager publically stating to buy that particular football club. It doesn't happen.

I am dealing with it easily, I go to the majority of all games. Doesn't mean I have to like that scum bag who is full of bullish*t.

I think the people who suggested to wait before have been proven very wrong already as out decline has been steady. Unless you would like to cover your back and say 'wait 10 years'.......it's already 7 years ago we were ment to be playing in a 4 sided new stadium lol.

Watched it last night.............. WOW !! Real fan power, impressive. Don't think we have as many with that level of passion in SE Essex though.

This. All of it

Anyone watch their game last night, they are a really entertaining team and already look better than last year. With some impressive signings I think they will be even better. They finished mid table last season I believe and I can see them maybe finishing 7th this time round. Great team to watch!

I lived in Swansea for a year during the season they reached the Prem, and couldn't help but admire the support they had everywhere I went. I attended college there and it was full of Swansea shirts every day. There was such a buzz about the team all over the city. It was all my work colleagues spoke about. If we could find even half that level of support in our town I would be very happy!
