Swansea City Statement

Yellow Army

Members
Over the past few seasons it has become something of a "tradition" for some of our supporters to show their appreciation for the players by going onto the field of play at the final whistle of the last home game of the season at the Vetch. You will be aware that we have a different set of circumstances at our new home and our new pitch is still in its first year of development. The pitch, which will prove to be one of the best surfaces in the country given proper care will shortly be subject to renovation works, which would be severely affected by any encroachment by fans.

Furthermore this coming Tuesday the Stadium will host an important Schools Under 15's Cup Final, involving our own Swansea Schoolboys and Liverpool Schools. This is going to be a fantastic evening for the boys and we want them to enjoy the Stadium at its best. To this end we wish to resist any encroachment onto the field of play at any time and I would like to remind our supporters that it is an arrestable offence to enter the playing area at the Liberty Stadium.

Any supporter encroaching onto this area before, during or after the game will be banned from the Stadium.

If all supporters remain in their seats following the final whistle the players will return to the field for a lap of honour.

Your co-operation will be greatly appreciated.

I wont hold me breath waiting for them to take a blind bit of notice Steve....but if Swansea are true to their word they may have rather small crowds next season

Depends how it's managed. With the exception of the schoolboy stuff and the garb about the playing surface, this is more or less the same announcement put out at Roots Hall each year.

Correct use of stewards, continual playing of the announcement and stress placed on the "banned from the stadium" aspect and it will be effective. If we can do it, so can Swansea!

This is the same Swansea who took 5,000 to Bury last year and invaded the pitch continuously everytime Bury had possession on the attack, purposefully stopping play. The same Swansea who, when the match finished, invaded the pitch properly resulting in multiple arrests, including the Swansea GK.

Thats what they're like Away... They'll be a pitch invasion Saturday, whether they win or lose.

Yep, i fear the worst!!

It's gonna happen, but on a bigger scale than Grimsby last season

As i've said in previous threads, i just hope it doesn't ruin our possible promotion and title hopes!

I can't see them controlling all those Swansea fans!!

And I still argue that it depends how it's managed.
If the club want to stop a pitch invasion, they will stop a pitch invasion.

Do they really want to?

How about if we win us lot invade the pitch - we wil get banned for the stadium too? wouldn't really bother me as we won't be going back there for quite a while!

WOW, we invaded the pitch everytime Bury had the ball.
laugh.gif

Do you realise that our goal was scored by a fan and that three fans managed to stop a certain Bury goal.

Bury had gone over 90 min and hardly created anything. IF and its a big IF the ref did blow up early it was only by seconds, and clearly Bury would have scored.

Yes a pitch invassion happened, no there wasn't multiple arrests, a thick northern copper arrested our keeper because he thought he told him to f off, after players were man handled whilst spraying the Champers, nothing to do with fans on the pitch. How do I know, well I was there you though seemed to have made up your own version.

WHAT!?

That's outrageous - and so typical of the FAW to let that sort of thing go unpunished.
Wouldn't happen under the English FA.

agreed,We are only basing things on what was shown on TV but we were lead to believe that Bury had a goal disallowed, highly controversially, at at time in the game when there were supporters lining the pitch. (5 minutes to go or there abouts)

I seem to recall TV footage of a ball not going out of play for a corner, due to it being prevented from crossing the line, but on that I may be mistaken.

As for the blowing up early, again it is only what was heard by someone on the radio commentary, but we were lead to believe that the 4th official held the time added on board up with several minutes showing, yet the whistle was blown seconds later.

I am not saying these are the facts, merely explaining where t we are coming from, the pitch invasion comments were not made up , and , although not being eye witness reports, they were taken from various aspects of the media and have been repeated with a belief that there must be some element of truth. (Cue.. Donovan Ricketts comparisons no doubt)

I have just re read this......

The fact that encroachment onto the pitch is a criminal offence seems to pale into insignificance compared to the major worry that the grass might get a little bit worn out......

Firestorm, do you always drive within the speed limit?
Do you pull all the plugs out before going to bed?
Do you leave a light on when you are out?
Do you leave the plastic covers on your car seats?
Do you worry about bird flu?
Have you ever done something you shouldn't?
Bet you don't drink. Have never smoked?
You first name is Graham and you are an accountant.

Is now a good time to mention that my Wife is Welsh..........

Seriously though, how did the Welsh people take to and Englishman (Trundle) defacing (or condoning the defacing of) the National flag . My missus is not impressed..........
