Super group....

Had a fairly in depth chat with a mate over a few large jars. Basically the idea being you are a bands manager and you have to create your own group from anyone. (alive or dead~ though obviously they'd be alive in this fanatsy

)

I've come up with my group as being;-

Steve Marriot (Small Faces) on vocals
Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) Lead Guitar
Steve Jones (Sex Pistols) Rythm Guitar
Steve Harris (Iron Maiden) Bass Guitar
Keith Moon (The Who) Drums
Janis Joplin as Guest/Second/backing Vocals

I haven't thought of a name yet.

Hmmmm, what a tough one. Initial gut reaction based on my favourite individuals makes me go for;

Sandy Denny/Vashti Bunyan (dual lead vocals)
Jimmy Page (lead guitar) Led Zep
Tony Iommi (rhythm guitar) Black Sabbath
Paul McCartney (bass) Wings
Dave Mattacks (drums) Fairport Convention

Although they would probably sound like a complete mess

It's not easy, but
Robert Plant - (Led Zep) Vocals
Freddy Mercury - (Queen) Piano/Synths/Vocals
Jimmy Page - (Led Zep) Lead Guitar
John Lennon - (Beatles) Rhythm Guitar
Roger Waters - (Pink Floyd) Bass Guitar
Keith Moon - (The Who) Drums

Vocals..Lemmy
Backing Vocals. those annoying kids that sung 'Grandma we love you'
Lead Guitar.. Eric Clapton
Rythm..Roy Orbison
Bass.. Mark whatever from Level 42
Keyboards.. Elton John
Drums .. who cares get some machine to do it or Phil Collins
Tamborine.. Davy Jones
Catering..Karen Carpenter
Roadies.. Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder

Freddy Mercury on vocals. Say what you like about Queen, but he was the ultimate frontman

Jimmy Page on Lead Guitar. I wanted to be contrary, but all I could hear in my head was 'Kashmir'. Can't argue with that.

Peter Hook on Bass. Gives you 'bass as lead' options for your B-Sides.

Keith Moon on Drums. I'm the manager right? That means I get to go out drinking with them? Keith's in.

You wouldnt need anyone else for the best band but..............
Paul Weller - Guitar
Bruce Foxton - Bass
Rick Buckler - Drums
The Jam!!

On a more serious note i would go for

Steve Marriott - Vocals (Small Faces)
Paul Weller - Guitar (Jam, Council, GOD

Mick Talbot - Keyboard  (Style Council)

Vocals - Stevie wonder ( 70's era )
Lead guitar - Dean Parks ( 70's session man )
Rhythm guitar - Lowell George ( Little Feat )
Bass - Larry Graham ( Sly and the Family Stone )

HALLELUJAH!!!

Drums - David Grohl (Nirvana/Foo Fighters)
Lead Guitar - Kirk Hammett (Metallica)
Bass - Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
Keyboard/Vocals - Trent Renzor (Nine Inch Nails)
Lead Singer/Guitar - James Hetfield

Would be my pick

Keith Moon - drums (no reason needed really)
Dave Grohl - drums / 3rd guitar (in my mind I have some sort of crazy dru medley going on and I reckont hese two could pull it off)
Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead) - Lead guitar (one of the few genuinely innovative guitarists of recent times)
Flea - Bass/trumpet (Whilst Grohl and Moon are crashing away, I can imagine, if him and Greenwood could ever harmonise, this being something special)
? - lead vocals (the hardest part. Chris Martin is versatile but too soft for those behind him. Noel Gallagher is decent and has the attitude but maybe not a good enough voice....Aaaarggghhhh!)

Michael Stipe, REM - Vocals
Nicky Wire, Manics - Bass Guitar
Taylor Hawkins, Foo Fighters - Drums
Noel Gallagher, Oasis - Lead Guitar
Bonehead, Oasis - Rhythm Guitar
Louise Wener, Sleeper - Guitar/Vocals

I've had a lot of discussion on a lot of different topics with a lot of peple today and yet this one is still proving the most troubleseom. Who is going to front my band?
rock.gif
!

Guitar - Gary Moore and Joe Satriani
Drums - Simon Phillips
Bass - Pino Palladino
Keys - Don Airey

yes - instrumental band!
