“Sunrise to Sunset Charity Auction”
This Saturday, ShrimperZone FC are hosting a “Sunrise to Sunset” Charity Football Match to raise funds for the Angelina Our Star Appeal. The Angelina Our Star Appeal, affiliated to the Great Ormond Street Childrens’ Hospital (charity number: 235825), is a local appeal that has been set up in memory of Angelina Vidler, who lost her life at the age of 5 and a half to Wilms’ tumor – a rare childhood cancer. All monies raised will help to fund a new project at Great Ormond Street Childrens’ Hospital, which will transform the Hospital's ability to develop safer and more effective new treatments for children with cancer. For more information about the appeal please see their website http://www.angelinaourstar.org.uk/.
In addition to the “Sunrise to Sunset” Match, we also have in our possession several items of great significance which we will be putting up for auction.
Our first item is an official England matchball, which has been kindly donated by The FA. This was used in the 5-1 victory over Kazakhstan in the 2010 World Cup qualifier held on Saturday 11 October 2008. This fantastic piece of memorabilia has been signed by the England manager, Fabio Capello, under whom all England fans hope will lead the country onto victory in South Africa next year (picture attached)
Our second item is a limited edition Southend United “poppy” shirt which has been signed by Steve Tilson, Paul Brush and Adam Barrett. These limited edition shirts were produced for Southend United’s match at home to Essex rivals Colchester United to mark Remembrance Day. This thrilling game ended 3-3, with Jean Francois Christophe equalising for the mighty blues deep into stoppage time.
And finally, we are also able to put up for auction the yellow away Southend United shirt worn by Jean Francois Christophe when Southend United travelled to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea in the FA Cup. This game saw Southend with their backs to the walls for the majority of the game, but roared on by 6,000 Shrimpers in the stands, Peter Clarke was able to score an equaliser late in the game to ensure that this seasons FA Cup finalists had to return to Roots Hall for a replay. This shirt has been signed by “Jeff” himself and is a real collector’s piece (picture attached).
We are taking bids on these items ahead of the auction, which will take place on Saturday after the “Sunrise to Sunset Charity Match”. If you would like to bid on one of these items, you can do so by e-mailing me your bid along with your contact details to davidgracie@hotmail.com, or you can do so via PM, and I will bid on your behalf on Saturday evening.
We are delighted to offer these superb items for auction and we hope to see some strong bidding!
Please contact me if you have any questions regarding any of the items or the bidding process.
Many thanks,
David
