Summer Betting

steveo

mine to stay the same please
So now its nearly all done and dusted, what you all gonna be betting on in the summer?

Cricket, horses, darts, rugby league, tennis if my mate Goody has some good tips. Betting doesn't stop because of the football season!

Ascot in June.

I know sweet FA about horses, so if anybody can give me a few tips on how to get value for money bets & keep me interested throughout the day.

I've been told for a very small bet (a quid!) I can bet on all the races & win sh!t loads, should they they all win! Long odds I know, but do they do an each way/places version? Any tips on how to get maximum value for bets for little outlay (if possible!) will be gratefully accepted!

Also, any decent horses worth backing on Ladies Day will be equally accepted too. If I win loads thanks to your help, I will buy you a beer or two in the Spread in early August!

Thanks!

Thanks!

Tip 1 - if you don't know anything about horses, don't bet on them

Tip 2 - if you must bet, then find the trainer/jockey combination that has taken the biggest bung and don't back that one!;)

Hmm.

The wealth of betting available on football is pretty much the best though.

On the plus side, little to bet on means less for us to do.....right?

You're thinking of the Jackpot, where all your selections do indeed need to win. However, you can aslo do a Placepot, where your selections only need to be 'placed'.

Whether a horse is 'placed' or not depends on the number of runners in the race:

4 runners - your horse must win
5-7 runners - your horse must come 1st or 2nd
8-15 runners - your horse must finish in the first 3
16 or more runners - your horse must finish in the first 4 (unless the race isn't a handicap. If this is the case, it's still the first 3)

I love football, but it's not my favourite betting medium. Darts all the way as far as I'm concerned.

We'll be a little quieter during the summer, but not massively so....

Change of plan.

New tactic is bet on nerves of steel Murphy at 160 to 1 for the tournamentand then smile as he comes back to win from the death against Stevens (with plenty of trading out along the way!)

*doffs cap in acknowledgement of a very smart piece of punting*

Cheers for that, I will try to remember that & may ask you for a few names of reliable jockeys or trainers to look out for nearer the time.

I would have left some pos rep, but can't for some reason! Thanks anyway.

Select a horse with a nose at the front, tail at the back and four legs (one in each corner).
