5-4 (penalty)
mad scramble in the box ends with assandun's number 7 faking to shoot, southend's number 14 slide in to block but the ball rolls away from the challenge and strikes the southend girl on the hand. again, assandun's number 14 beats southend's keeper (lucy) with a more powerful strike low inside the right-hand post.
final score...5-4 to the blues!!!
assandun had 2 quality players. number 7 was quick and good on the ball and their number 11 had a huge long throw and kept pressurising our back 4 with her height and strength (not to mention the army of subs, family and supporters they brought along who kept the noise level up all game).
but southend gritted it out and, as a completely biased supporter, we totally deserved the win with some hard work and quality goals.
bring on the semi finals!!! :D
apologises for a right old mix-mash of a report. due to injury, one of southend's subs had to come on after 15/20 minutes and, as she was orginally running the line, i became linesman for the rest of the game.
