I just want to see what you guys think..............Im fed up of tilson paying for this rubbish 150 000 strikers. The list is endless I hope this summer he buys someone worthwhile not just out of desperation.
My list I Have come up with is as follows:
Harrold
Paynter
Foran
Revell
Add as you feel fit!!!

If people like you gave these boys a chance and gave Steve time to work with them we MAY have moulded them into damn fine players!
Mistakes will be made when dipping into the bargain buckets so you're going to be even more fed up,at least for the future as far as i can see.
Our supporters HAVE to give players a chance and it may take a season 'till they produce.
Don't forget what Tilly done for the ability of a pool of players who were staring Conference football in the eye,took 'em into the Championship!!

Harrold wasnt £150k but obviously still wasnt good enough, and Revell hasnt really played, atleast give the guy a bit more of a chance.

Those are three targetmen and one winger. I think Foran probably was a desperation signing after we failed to bring in any of our other targets that month, but the other three were brought in to fill a particular role in the side. Targetmen are never going to be fan favourites, I just hope that Alex Revell has thick skin because I don't think he's going to be given anything like a fair chance by our fans.

Everyone manager makes mistake in the transfer market and with every mistake Tilly makes I think he learns from it. But players are not helped by people on here and at the ground jumping on their backs as soon as they make one mistake - Walker for example. A month ago the sun shone out of his **** but now its 'time for him to go', 'shouldnt of bought him' blah blah blah!

Personally think all players need a season or two before their full worth is revealed. Take Harrold for example - couple of seasons here now and yes hasn not proved to be the striker we hoped. We can know make a proper full evalutaion of him. Walker and Revell haven't been here 5 minutes. Think it is time we give some of these guys a break and sure players like Revell and Walker will play a big part next season.

I'm not sure I do. I think he'll work hard, close down defenders, win a lot in the air, create a lot of space for his team-mates and help Lee Barnard & James Walker to score a lot of goals. But unless he scores 20 himself (which he won't) I think he'll be written off as a donkey by a lot of our fans.

The things is that Paynter is good at Swidon, Revell was good at Brighton and Foran did ok at Motherwell but they just didn't do it with us. So if i was manager i would of spent £150,000 at the time he bought them.

Why do supporters of this club get on players backs so quickly. If we treat Revell poorly as well, we may start to get a reputation and end up missing out on a lot of players

Out of that list, I think Harrold and Foran can be classified as bad players.

The other two just weren't or haven't been given a chance.

I said early in the piece that Foran looked little better than a pub footballer and I stand by that. Quite how he scored goals in the McJock League is a mystery although given previously journeymen European strikers end up scoring squillions of goals might provide a clue.

anyone can pick a few players and make it look the way they want. Tilson has made some good signings, some ok ones and some 'bad' ones that haven't worked out, just like any other manager has. It depends on what you want to see really.

Is Revell really a winger though....

People say that but I have yet to see him put in a decent cross. My mates who support Brighton say he was useless as a winger too.....

I will reserve final judgement on him until he is fit but as yet not seen anything to make me think he is worth the money we have paid.....

As first posts go, this one is certainly up there.

I bet if you look on every message board in this league you will see a similar thread as this one. From what ive seen so far in league one some of the opposition forwards have been absolute cack.

Any lower league striker who has the least bit of potential is soon whisked off to the championsip and above ie Vokes to Wolves.

Its the easiest thing in the world to criticise signings, but you can only go on the evidence in front of you beforehand, and the small amount of money at tillys disposal.

Just to be difficult and because I'm bored, you say about little money available for us to spend and then show the top scorers in our league:

Scotland - Free
Beckford - Small fee from Non League
Forster - Small fee
Maynard - Through their Youth Team
Garner - £150,000
Graham - Free
Agogo - £200,000?
Barker - £80,000
Boyd - Free
Cox - £200,000?

That sort of shows that the top scorers in this league weren't that expensive in the first place and in the bracket of what we could spend on a player. Unfortunately instead of spending £150,000 on someone like Garner, we spent it on Foran. Instead of £80,000 on someone like Barker, we spent it on Harrold. Yes we can't blow big money on players but some of the judgement has been a little poor as has been proved. All managers get things wrong and we have to accept that as fans really. Won't stop us complaining obviously though. ;)

Interesting that the top two scorers in this list were both linked with us. Beckford, in particular, was Tilly's first choice transfer target last summer. So maybe, just maybe, Tilly knows what he's doing...

I can't believe Revell is being wrote of already. His played a hand ful of games, at the start he was injured, then had surgery, now his working his way up to full fitness.

I'm looking forward to him having a full pre-season behind him and starting fully fit in August.

Signing Foran as a winger was pointless...all his best games and the majority of his goals came from a striking position..Carlisle of 7/8 years ago would be testament of that. You can't buy a player, play him out of position and expect him to produce the goods...
