[h=2]Seevic’s Steve Tilson and Craig Davidson selected for England Seniors World Cup squad[/h]
[h=3]24 April 2013[/h]Two members of Seevic College’s Faculty of Sport are dusting off their boots after being selected to represent England at the Seniors World Cup in Thailand. Steve Tilson, Seevic SCORE Academy Manager, and Craig Davidson, Curriculum Area Leader for Competitive Sport, are flying out to Bangkok on 29 May for the week-long tournament.
Steve and Craig will play five games in six days as they hope to help England reach the final of the tournament, which will take place in Thailand’s National Stadium on 8 June. Along the way they’ll come up against a range of ex professional and international players, in addition to supporting youth football in Thailand.
Looking ahead to the tournament, Steve said: “I’m looking forward to flying out for what should be a fantastic experience of playing abroad. Naturally, I’m very proud to be representing England.”
Craig added: “To play for England at any level is very special, and this is no exception. To also have the opportunity to share our experience with the school children of Thailand will be particularly rewarding.”
In addition to their roles at Seevic College, Steve and Craig also currently form a managerial partnership at Canvey Island FC. A Blues legend, Steve previously managed Southend United to back-to-back promotions and also made over 250 appearances as a player at Roots Hall. In a successful non-league playing career, Craig featured prominently for Dagenham & Redbridge, Canvey Island and Braintree Town.
The Seniors World Cup is organised by the Federation of International Seniors Associations (FISA). England are represented by Harrogate Veterans, who have been given FA permission to represent the Three Lions at the tournament and will wear the official England kit. Players can be aged between 38 and 59 and this year’s tournament is the eighth edition.
