Starting an Account on Ebay

southend4ever

I used to play a little.
Dear anyone In The Know,

I am making this desperate plea for insights into the world of Ebay.

I would like to start an account and have been told the best way to deal with the money is using Ebay to send money to and when the product is sent to them they will send out the money and product to the buyer and seller.

Ebay suggests that this service is known as Escrow. Does anyone use this service and approve or disapprove of it?

Also, the packaging and sending price malarki, do you just make that up, and the person buying has to pay for that cost too?

all comments and anything you think would be useful to know would be much appreciated.

Thanks
S4E

waste of time mate,
just set up an ordinary account, then if monies arent paid or items not received, there is more than one to solve a dispute on there as ebay have their own legal action team, so you cant get ripped off, or rip any one else off.. not that i think you would of course

Set up a Paypal account and just use that, it's very easy.

P&P should be close to what it really is otherwise some users get ****y and leave negative feedback if you charge too much

I only use paypal, if you get done you get your money back.

If you get done sending a check it takes ages to sort out and you lose £15 admin costs.

oh mr CS J, would i dream of ripping anyone off

ok people, i will wait to decide when hopefully there are a few more comments. so, rather than scroll through all of the paypal info could someone just tell me a bit about it.

also with P&P is it a case of finding out how much it costs to say send something by special delivery before you post the item.

paypal is the best way, its an official ebay company and you can add bank accounts and credit cards to pay for your items..

thanks people the account is set up, should be a few southend bits, cricket bits and bobs lots of sports stuff. i'll keep you posted if i think it may interest you.

with paypal should i use the premier account, i have to don't i?

I cant remember the name of the accounts, but with the initial one you can only pay people, you need the next one up to withdraw funds to your bank account.

To withdraw £49.99 or less costs 25p, and over £50 is free.

As regards to P&P i always try to cover my postage, packaging, listings fees and FVF's wih it. A lot of people see you have put down something like £2, and the stamps value is only £1.50, and then complain... its amazing how some ppl forget a decnet padded envelope costs about 50p... hence they call it postage & PACKAGING!
