Stadium Plans sent to Ruth Kelly

sussex by the sea

SZ Fantasy League Champ 08/09.
Have just spoken to someone at Southend BC Planning Department who advised that the plans were sent to Ruth Kelly last Friday. I think the 21 days she has to decide whether she wants to call-in the application start from the day she receives the plans, so by my reckoning that would take us up to around 13 March.

God, i feel like a kid at Christmas again ;)

Lets hope it doesn't take the full 21 days to come back stamped and approved

The countdown is on
Went to have a look at the stadium site at the weekend and there are diggers to the immediate left of the stadium area. I suspect this is preping the area for the road round the side of the stadium. Also the rear fences at the back of B&L are knocked down with heavy plant tracks either side of the training pitches.
Is this a good sign of optimism or something to do more with B&Q???

Prob B&Q work but i dont know for sure, but remember nothing happens at FF until the plans for roots hall are sorted.

That isnt so at all. Having Spoken to Ron,FF is not Dependant on Roots Hall development.

That is true, lets hope Ruth Kelly rubber stamps the plans and we can all see the diggers move in by June

Thanks Sussex for your time and trouble to find out.:o

So this must mean we have cleared the conditions imposed by the council !!! I'm surprised the club haven't released a statement, something along the lines of.. "we have come to an agreement with the council regarding the S106 issues and we can announce the plans are now with the DoE for consideration"
Maybe i'm reading too far ahead

I'm not surprised the club are keeping it quiet. If they publicised the fact of the plans going to Ruth Kelly and the 21 days now ticking away, I'm sure Qureshi et al would be straight on to Kelly's case campaigning against the plans. This way, with any luck, the plans will be approved before they realise she's even seen them.

They, like we were, are probably expecting it to take a bit longer for SUFC to meet the Council's requirements first.

Ah yes, a valid point well put.

IIRC when Charlton were trying to return to The Valley the BBC showed the council meeting when it was finally approved, with the public gallery packed with fans. When the yes came up the place erupted like a goal had been scored. Not sure if their case had to go to the Government though
Anyone know if there will be any sort of public meeting when RKs decision is made, or will we suddenly get an announcement from the club saying that we've won and building can begin
Be good if there is a chance for loads of us to be together when its announced

I would like to think that as soon as RM has a date for the diggers to move onto site that he announces it on the OS so as many of us as possible can get down there and see the first sod of earth removed from the ground and finally take in the fact that it's actually happening at last.

In fact, perhaps this should be put to Ron at the next Trust liaison meeting :)

As sad as I think this idea is, you might just find me joining in! ;)

I doubt that is the case, these people will be all over this like a rash if they want to, and a statement on the OS won't make a difference. We also know that they monitor this site, so this thread will have alerted them anyway!

Less than a week to go now, depending on how quickly the postal service got the application to Ruth Kelly!
