Squad Size

DTS

The Business
I really feel today is the day Tilly needs to get someone in on loan. The squad is down to a stupid size now when you look at injuries. As I see it now FULLY FIT AND NOT A MOODY B@STARD we only have -

DARRYL

FRANCIS
HAMMELL
PRIOR
SODJE
CLARKE

MAHER
GOWER
JCR
COLE
MOUSSA

HARROLD
FREDDY
LAWSON

I make that 14 fits players. Maybe get Collis & Barrett back and maybe Gutts will be back depending on what mood he is in. Still its not enough.....

Come on Tilly time to get someone mate....

DtS

If we see Paynter back by X-mas he'll have done well IMO. As for Bradbury, he's already been out for 2 months, so who's to say?! I dont think the injection into his hip has went as well as hoped, so i cant see him returning until early Dec maybe!

I think there is a definite correlation between squad size and success.

We had one of the smallest squads in division 4.... and got promoted
We had the smallest squad in division 3 and won it, being our most successful when we were down to about 14 fit players
We drastically increase the size of our squad for division 2 and get thumped until....
Injury hits and we go down to 14 fit professionals and we beat Man U.

You can only field 14 players (at most) in a game, and we normally only use 12 or 13 at most. I'd like a central/right midfielder in the Bentley role but otherwise I think we've got cover for most eventualities.

ps Is Che injured again?

Probably not but I refuse to accept he is a player.

good to see JCR back.. surely that performance deserves a starting place saturday...

in one way this isnt a bad thing as it limits Tillys options and he can pretty much put out what a lot of us to consider to be ou best side, not sure about missing AB and gutts but after Tuesday he sureyl has to stick with spinner and sodje.

Flavs

Agreed, teams with less squads of less than 11 tend to struggle

We only needed 8 men at Swansea.
