He's actually being serious about playing Straker on the wing then...

One thing this has done is made me realise how weak our squad is. 5 youth team players and 15 seniors. Not enough IMO.

I guess having 9 vacant suggests he's confident of bringing a striker in, and Straker swapping to 11 must mean he'll play more of a role on the wing this season.

Correct me if i'm wrong but under the new Um Bongo rules we can still sign players up to a squad of 20. So now we have 20 we cant sign anyone else until we move someone on ?

Reckon at least one of the youngsters will be loaned out in the next few days ....

Or is this as good as it gets ? :'(

Guessing hurst won't be a starter but by the looks of it we will have 3 strikers with sub 11 numbers so maybe the numbers don't really indicate anything

I'll be pretty peeved if Hurst doesnt start and Straker does. I too hope the numbers arent a sign of that, maybe Hurst just likes 14.

Considering his Twitter handle is @KevanHurst14 I'd say that's a safe bet. I seem to recall him wearing 14 at a few clubs now.

Smith still has the number 1 shirt!!

Don't read too much into that. Pepe Reina has always been no.25 at Liverpool. Maybe 17 if Bentleys favourite number and he doesn't want to wear the no.1 shirt.

I'm quite excited to see some youth players come through, we've had plenty of talented youngsters pinched from us so this is a ringing endorsement of the work Ricky Duncan is doing. There's still plenty of time to dip into the loan market (don't forget that that's where Laird and Assombalonga came from!) so we're not quite at panic stations yet.

Remember, anyone can beat anyone in this league. We're all crap!

Bizarrely I moved Straker to midfield on Fifa on Manager Mode due to injuries and he was cracking in the goals and was an improved player.. amused me to find out he's now moved into that position in real life.. unless Phil Brown was playing Fifa and did the same thing and we've based out tactics for next season on Fifa and FM Manager to see if computers can replace humans for managers?

Here we go again :winking:

but its true , experience trumps exuberance any day of the week . yes i get it , Dan is a local lad who pulls of some very acrobatic saves and was a penalty shoot out hero but at times hes more calamitous than David James , sells him self too much . yes smith stays on his line , but that's just the old fashion way of doing it . i prefer to see that than Dan running of his line , shouting "look at me" then watching the ball bounce over his head  .

Should be our cup keeper to start with , so far we haven't seen Smith but if it was up to me , he would be straight in to the team once fit . unless Dan can improve just a little bit .

P.S

i think Dan is about to be called up to the England U-20's , heard a rumor thee other day
