Spybot - Search & Destroy

Someone was advocating Spybot a couple of weeks ago to aid PC security, I've downloaded it & scanned regularly since then but I now have a recurring problem with a DSO exploit that I can't fix.

It's a Security Hole problem in IE & says it allows websites to execute code without asking me first. Is this a big issue? I went to both the suggested site for more info & the Microsfot techy site but cannot find a fix. Does anybody techy (e.g. Bob) have a clue? Will installing the new XP service pack help? I'm loathe to do this as I hear it affects the way that CM4 runs.

Anybody any ideas? Cheers!

Use firefox

It is advisable to have both Spybot AND Adaware running. Sometimes one finds things the other misses and vice-versa.

My mum was having loads of problems with popups etc, Spybot cleared a load of stuff but she was still getting loads of crap everywhere. I installed ad-aware and it found over 100 things on the first run that spybot missed and everythings running much better now.

Search and destroy and adaware did not get rid of the problem I was having (IE periodically routed me to a porn site and launched a new instance of IE every time I tried to close it).

I used the immunize option though and so far, so good. I asume the malicious program is still on my PC but just not able to execute.

I have both Spybot and Aware and they are both good but using firefox instead of IE is even better !

Totally agree, Firefox is the way to go. Just realised how much I use than just web browsing, all those extensions you get make it a totally awesome piece of software.

I just downloaded the Web Developer extension which is very handy indeed.
