Sprinklers

Big Albert

Youth Team⭐
Seems our groundstaff haven't read the papers and seen this is the wettest August on record.

Why - oh -why did they put the sprinklers on before the game? It could have cost us dear when a ball held up in a puddle early on but Mildy was able to collect easily.

I remember last season when they kept doing this and all the players kept slipping over - especially McDonald. The players warm up - select their boots / studs then the gardener soaks the pitch.

Think the idea was to see how might Brighton fans they could drench

You'll be surprised though at how quickly the pitches dry up though. Last Saturday night, it was pouring down all night until the early hours of the morning. I turn up to play football for a one o clock kick off and the pitch was rock solid. Still got blisters on my feet now for thinking studs would be fine

Firstly as Stevie G says pitches are still fairly hard underfoot but also there probably was a high chance that the pitch was watered on request from Tilly & Brush.

I used to work at Spurs when Hoddle was in charge and he used to request that the groundstaff had the sprinklers on before the game and during the half time interval to help aid the ball to zip around quicker.

Myself and DtS were discussing this last night and we felt that rather than have the sprinklers on the pitch they should have them in the North Bank to go on automtically when the noise reaches a certain level.

It would have brightoned up last night anyway!
