Sprinker System

The one thing that has been bugging me since Saturday, more than anything else is how does the new sprinkler system work?

I see that the sprinklers pop up from underground, and go back afterwards, but how do they manage to not leave a small hole in the pitch?

well i think there is a very small hole in the ground but it's not noticable and probably no worse than most of the divots you find on lower league pitches. i think it is good to have it as many championship teams had them and i think we failed to adjust quickly to a wet, slick surface

Apparantly it's a system patented by a certain Mr David Blaine.

Thanks jon...i've been trying to work that one out since Bournemouth away in the FA Cup all those years ago! Saturday just reminded me...

It doesn't work all the time!

Clearly if it did, the one in the North-East corner would've come on when Orient broke down the wing to score the late winner. That's just unforgiveable. At the very least we could've squirted Thornton in the eye.

To join in the usual Monday morning post-defeat blame game, I'm going to go for "Groundsman Out!".

when i went to an england game at old trafford about 20 school kids were carrying a giant england flag across the pitch. the sprinkler erupted from under the flag and the kids were drenched!! i felt sorry for them having 70,000 fans laughing their heads of at them!

we need one in the centre circle to go off when the bluebelles are dancing.:D

i'm only saying what everyone is thinking!

Was funny when it popped up first of all and got Collis right in the face :)

Shame they couldn't have swapped the water for dog p*ss or battery acid...

I like the sprinkler system. When there hasn't been much rain its ideal to grease up the surface which will suit us as we tend to quick the ball on the deck.

Sprinkler were the band that backed Denis Waterman in 'I could be so good for you' used as the theme from Minder.

The big questions are

1) Can any of these sprinklers play up front for us

2) Is one of them any good in goal. They're certainly taller than Darryl.

I was expecting Nelsons Column to spring up on the Centre Circle and Pigeons to do a fly past.

...and four-thousand japanese people invade the pitch and ask people to take photos of them doing peace 'V' signs infront of the Column:thump:

I was mesmorized watching it myself and also wondered how they got around the problwm with the hole left. Also thought what on earth they would do if there was a malfunction and the things wouldn't go back down. You could hardly olay around them so I surpose someone would have to come on with a hacksaw or sledge hammer.
