Spinner in the Western Mail

Matt the Shrimp

aka Harry Potter
They mentioned on Five Live this morning that there was an interview with Spinner in the Western Mail this morning, about the fact that it's hard being an English player in Wales.

And they weren't making it up - here's the story:

Spinner: Being an English player in Wales is unbearably tough

Should turn up the heat nicely for Sunday...!

Makes you wonder if they all hate england so much why they dont go and play in the Welsh League. Scottish and Irish teams dont play in English Leagues wo why the hell do the Welsh?

Because Scotland is a Nation and Northern Ireland is a Province, and therefore they are to some extent separate nations, with separate identities... and thus the peers of England. A fused English & Scottish league makes as much or as little sense as a fused Belgian and Dutch league. As for Ireland, that is of course an entirely independent republic from the UK, so of course they wouldn't not play in an English league or indeed any British league.

Wales, on the other hand, is a Principality. It is subordinate to England. We own them. That's why they kept their language - it's the only way they could set themselves apart. Our laws are the laws of England & Wales. There is no Bank of Wales, only a Bank of England (contrast the position in Scotland).

And so that's why Cardiff & Swansea can play in English leagues. They are English already.

I'd like you to put that on a t-shirt and/or placade & stand in Market Street in Cardiff and purely as a Social Experiment, we'll see how long you last
