Did anyone catch Dick Marshall moaning in the Echo about Canvey only pulling in 500 for there home match vs Forest Green

Sorry Marshall but this saturday Roots Hall there will be 18x that figure watching some decent football rather than a pointless kick & rush game down on the marsh, really what do you expect

They're still doing quite well considering how small their support is - they must have the smallest fan base in the conference!

Part of that is to do with the Southend United factor!

Yep, Canvey were hoping to cash in on Southend's demise and gain quite a bit of our support. But I bet Mr King is livid that we have been doing quite well and that there are many people on Canvey that support Southend instead of Canvey.

462 or whatever it was, is still a small conference crowd no matter what the size of the catchment area.

Billericay, Braintree, Chemlsford & AFC Hornchuch get more fans than Canvey these days. We got more than 4 x more fans than Canvey by taking 2'000 to Bournemouth

I though Canvey now a new Leigh RMI, doing ok in conference with 426 fans. Canvey got 40'000 people living on Island, Fat Jeff cannot be ar*ed to attract new fans like Ron Martin did 3 season ago. Tamworth getting 1'200 fans every week even they are bottom of the league. Last season Grays got 300-400 fans, now they getting 1'500 every week!? how did they manage that, I would beat my house Canvey get under 1000 every week if they were top of the Conference next season.

If we keep improving, perhaps we'll eat into Col Ewe's fan base too. All 500 of em!!

Good to see you joining in on a crowd related thread

I live on Canvey but have always supported Southend. To be fair, I did originally live in Benfleet so I have always seen SUFC as my local team.

I have been to Canvey on occassions, notably during their long FA VASE run way back when. However TBH i have never been hooked like I was the first time I stepped into Roots Hall.

That many! bet most of them were woking fans aswell.
It was worse than that Canvey's official attendance tonight 358. Take away season ticket holders and about 150 people must have paid to get in.

Anyone know how many Woking fans were there?

just seen on some woking forum, said there was 57 woking fans there.

Canvey's gate receipts must have been below £2,000 for tonights game. They can't survive much longer on gates that small can they?

Anyway enough Canvey talk, how many tickets have we sold for Saturdays game?

On a Canvey forum it states 53 people another person says 60 Woking fans. This is getting interesting. Look at these comments:-

"Poor performance tonight though we did have chances in the 2nd half and their keeper was outstanding.
It is getting very embarrassing regarding the crowds right now. 358 tonight and there must have been at least 60 from Woking. Jeff King even hinted in the programme that they can't survive on these poor crowds for much longer which might have been a hint towrds a move elsewhere.

The club don't help themselves sometimes. The next game against Kidderminster is played on Goof Friday the sameday Southen have a big home against Gillingham. Common sense would say play that home game on a Saturday."
