Spare A Thought For Gary McAllister

Today Gary McAllister asked to be temporarily relieved of his duties as player-manager of Coventry City for "personal reasons".

As it's well known in football circles that is wife is battling cancer, I think we can sadly surmise he's taken the time off to care for her.

What a horrible week for Gary. Having to somehow stick up for one of his players that snapped a fellow pro's leg almost in two (although he himself was clearly distraught at the tackle) and then this.

Anybody who has been affected by the disease, whether personally or by friends or relatives, will know what a terrible, painful experience it is for the sufferer and how awful it is to see a loved one in pain and unable to do much about it.

My thoughts are with Gary and his wife - indeed anyone who's suffereing similarly, especially this time of year. I wish them the very best - for her to be up and about as soon as possible and for him to be back wearing the football shirt before long.

Completely agree with all of that, having been there with a close relative myself I know exactly what he is going through.

Agreed totally, I had to go through this with a very close relative R.I.P.

Get well soon !
