I remember the highlights of both the FA Cup 2nd round and league games were featured on either Football Focus or Saints and Greavsie on the Saturday after the Friday night games that season.

Having had a look through YouTube I can't find the highlights at all - does anybody if they are out there to be seen or whether it will be a request to the BBC / ITV to see if they have them at all?

Cheers,

Steve

I have both games on a video somewhere , my son was mascot against Wolves .

The Northampton 4-4 draw FA Cup highlights/goals were shown on ITV Saint & Greavsie and BBC Football Focus on the Saturday.
One of them had a camera in the main stand and one I think behind the goal high up on the old South Bank.
I also have these on VHS/Betamax somewhere!

I think the Wolves game highlights were just on Saint & Greavsie.

Also around that time most of our goals were also shown on the Monday sports round ups on TVS & Anglia and sometimes Thames TV

Bad memories of the Cobblers tie, I was torn between attending the match or going to a big work bash in London, chose the latter. Collapsed into a cab at Vic station at some ungodly hour, and slurred to the cabbie 'whawassursarfenscoremate?' I half sobered up when he told me 4-4

Didn't Richard Cadette get a hatrick in that game?

yeah. He also scored 4 v Orient and a hattrick against Rochdale.

Cadette (4) - H v Orient won 5-1 Friday 23 Aug 1985
Cadette - H v Rochdale won 5-0 Friday 2 May 1986
Cadette - H v Northampton drew 4-4 Friday 5 Dec 1986

A certian Ian Benjimen scored for Northampton .

Probably because Cadette didn't drink as much as Roy.

Roy was very abrasive. He upset a few players and fell out with them. He was also known to be a bit nasty in training games, and would clatter or elbow a player he had fallen out with. On the other hand, he had his drinking buddies. His own little crazy gang that loved him, he was definitely the leader. Richard Cadette was obviously not in his gang.

It's funny how Roy M didn't rate him. Red card Roy's goal record for Southend is ...34 goals in 208 games. Richard Cadette got a superb 49 in 90 games. I think there was a bit of jealousy going on there, as Cadette was getting all the praise and headlines for the right reasons. Whilst Roy was a battering ram, and kept getting sent off and found it difficult to score(On the field).

Wolves game will always be one of those great nights at the hall. Saturday's 'hostile' atmosphere was literally nothing compared to what was going on that night....

I have bad memories of the replay. I was very young, and went with my dad, brother and grandfather (who lived in Northampton). We were sitting in a temporary stand behind one of the goals. The stand was actually a fold out lorry! It was crap, and we were with all the Northampton fans which made it worse.

We were 2-1 up with about 15 minutes to go, and gave away 2 penalties to lose 3-2. All I remember is hating every minute of it.
