Southend United's Dave Penney: We should have won on my return to Bristol Rovers

Could have, should have. Maybe if we ditched the crocked and past it slow strikers, we would have.
Time for Williams and Loza to start I think. Can't be any worse, and we would have pace and mobility up front. Also that currently wasted ball over the top they keep trying, may pay off with these two.

But they haven't been going over the top. It's all been aimed head height ready for the opposition's big center backs to head away.

I didn't mean that the ball over the top is the only one they try. Yes that's another waste, the head height one to Freddy and Barney, the big lumps at the back always seem to get their head in first.
I have been to so many games this season where the ball goes over the top, and usually runs through to the goalie or straight out for a goal kick, because our forwards are too slow in the race. It's an absolute waste of possession and no threat.
When you get speedy strikers, it's a big threat. The times Assombalonga and Theo Robinson burst through and won that race, although Theo missed quite a few one on ones with the goalie, but that's not the point.

Agreed,

The recent Liverpool United game has the scousers set up for balls over the top for their quick forwards and worked very well for them.
