Here are the teams occupying the relegation places after one match in League 1 and Championship... interesting!

------------------------------------------------------------
Championship
------------------------------------------------------------
22. Wolverhampton W
23. Derby County
24. Sunderland AFC
------------------------------------------------------------
League 1.
------------------------------------------------------------
21. Tranmere
22. Brentford
23. Blackpool
24. Sheffield W.
------------------------------------------------------------

I wonder what their fans are saying about their respective teams right now...

Sunderland and Wolverhampton W are among the favourites to be top 2 at the end of the season, but they are already 3 points behind the leaders!!! can they make up the deficit? of course!!!

... and what about Sheffield Wednesday? are they really a League 1 club? Blackpool are a good side [

So, we're in good company then!

Why is everyone making such a big deal about this? We've only played 1 game! Just got another 40 odd to go now.......

That's just the point I am making... there are several good clubs in the relegation zone of their respective divisions after ONLY ONE GAME! losing the opening game is NOT the end of the world and certainly NOT the season!

I know it ultimately proved to be a poor season but in 2002-03 we lost our first TWO home games (To Carlisle and Shrewsbury at that) and had 1 point after 3 games. However come mid-October we were fifth!

Amen to that!

Perhaps it was the general consensus that the team played poorly that might be worrying people. Personally, I ended up sleeping on Portsmouth beach til early Saturday morning next to a BBQ and couldn't get to the game.

However, I did manage to properly lay the guilt trip on my housemates who were leaving so it wasn't without gain

We've been unbeaten in the past decade on the first day of the season and look what good that has done ...

I take it there's a positive in there somewhere and it's great to hear it after all the doom and gloom of the last 48 hours!

The bottom line is that Tilson is no mug, but tactically I think he got it wrong on Saturday [just a tiny bit]... true, his midfield options are very limited with Bentley & Smith on the sidelines and we really need Broughton fit as well... so maybe we won't see the best from our team until Broughton & Bentley are available for selection!

We missed creative flair, width on the right-hand side in the first half and Tilly got it wrong (or the players made it look that way). I'm not going to get to down hearted over one result from 46. However, if we are pointless come the 21st August against Cambridge then i will start getting worried ...
