After the long and disappointing trip to Altrincham, it's back to Roots Hall for the visit of league leaders Forest Green Rovers.
Steve Cotterill's side have only lost twice in the league all season so far (away at Oldham and at Barnet) and so given our poor form at the moment they're probably the last team we want to visit the hall to recover our shattered confidence. As well as being top of the actual table, they're also top of the form table so I am assuming expectations will be pretty low for those of us attending on Saturday.
The Vegans of course triggered Harry Cardwell's release clause earlier this season, and such is the strength of their squad that our former star striker has had to mainly confine himself to odd late appearances off the bench - he's scored two goals since joining them. Another ex-Shrimper in their ranks is Ryan Innis - he'll be sitting this one out though as he was suspended for three games after being sent off at Woking.
Kev somehow needs to find a winning formula - especially at home - as fleeting decent performances are not really enough and sooner rather than later the crowds will dwindle from their excellent levels at the beginning of the season when the euphoria of the COSU takeover has faded and the reality that we're faced with yet another season in the National League hits home.
Last week's decision to drop Morton and Coker in favour of Miley and Moncur baffled many, as did the decision to split up a partnership between Bonne and Pepple, that seemed to be starting to spark, the week before. We all have to trust that what the coaching team see on the training ground and what the scouts tell them about the opposition lead them to make such choices, however when they fail to bring either the required results or positive performances they have to accept that we will start to question they judgements.
So who would you choose to start on Saturday against one of the promotion favourites and what do you predict the result will be?
