Couldn't see a pre-match thread so I assume Lomas has handed over the reigns so here goes

Everybody involved knows the score, the potential results, how they want things to pan out and how they will actually pan out. This is Southend United and nothing is ever done the easy way!

So far all teams at home in the second leg have made it to Wembley, can we continue this?

Bentley
White Egan Sokolik Coker
Hurst Leonard Timlin Atkinson
Corr Freddy

Now i'm not freds biggest fan since he returned, but I just feel that he can still offer something, pick a pass, shot on the turn! The kind of acts we need tomorrow

I wouldn't play Murphey, but if Timlin is unable to play then I would still keep Atkinson out wide and put Laird in the middle. He was our best player at the start of the season and I feel he still is one of the best midfielders in the squad!

We had all the play last Sunday, but just couldn't make it count in the final third, bit like the rest of the season, but i think we can do it!

Going for a 2-0

Come on SUFC, Let's have something to celebrate!

Same team as last week for me.

The 433 has suited us for the last 11 games, just losing the away leg by one goal in a tight game doesnt change that.

Only concern we all have Im sure is that all of our home games since Oxford have been 1-0, thats not enough this time around without the sheer terror of penalties.

Why is he royal? :hilarious:

Pitch is looking good, weather set to be good for footie and with little wind. A game for playing the ball and keeping possession. I think Brown will name the same team ....... but tell the boys to play the short ball when it is available, feed Murphy as much as possible, keep the pace high and always look to be going forward (rather than sideways).

If things aren't working out, then Fred on as soon as possible to work some magic with his feet.

If Burton score first, they may well park all eleven players behind the ball ............. if we score first, then the crowd may well spur us on to victory.

All to play for and nothing to lose. We must play without fear. We are a far better footballing side than Burton and better defensively. UTS !!!

Same as I said on another thread, Score two goals and concede none. Team selection as per Pubey’s suggestion assuming all are fit, start with Fred next to Corr.

Hurry up Saturday, only one more sleep

Couldn't give a monkeys who plays tomorrow.

Whoever wears that blue shirt better put in a 110% shift and die for the cause. I want crunching challenges, non-stop running, constant shooting, fist pumping, badge kissing, high adrenaline stuff right from the off. None of this sit back ********. Get into 'em and put the game to bed in the first half.

Any less and I am getting Trueblue to streak.

Sounds like a win/win for everyone

20 more hours to go , 20 long , long hours. I wish I could say it was just one sleep , but being old I am likely to drop off at home tonight , so two sleeps minimum !

It's all about who scores first tomorrow IMO. They won't be in any rush from the first whistle but if they score first that will be it as far as they are concerned and they will just time waste for the rest of the game.

So its vital that even though we know we have to attack we need to be wary of not getting leaving too many gaps at the back.

They are going to be tough to break down and early goal would be great but it might not come so we have to bide our time and take the opportunities when they come.

Most importantly whenever we have a big game our big players usually shrink away. This time we need them to stand up and be counted. I can see Lenny being a massive player, we really need him to lead by example.

An old cliche, but I think so as well.

They score first, then I think that is it.

We score first, then I fancy us to go on and get the job done.

Indeed, I know pundits say that all the time but it's really true for tomorrow's game. First 20-30 mins will be crucial. Burton will probably want to keep it tight but if we can get at them early on and get an early goal then the crowd will be even more buzzing, it'll be back to level and they'll have to change their game plan. The longer the game goes on the more frustrated we'll get and if Burton get a goal on the counter then I think it'll be game over. We've not scored a lot of early goals this season but we could really do with one tomorrow. Set-pieces could be crucial as without Sharps their defence isn't the tallest and with the likes of Corr and the two centre-backs in there, and Hurst's deliveries, they could be our best chance of a goal. Oh and please can Brown sort out who our best direct free-kick taker is.

I'd go with a 4-4-2, but it's hard to choose who. I'd be tempted to have Murphy on the bench and then bring him on up front to use his pace against a tired defence. Think our best chance of scoring will come from out wide so would try to make the most of Coker and Hurst both on the left. We've got to get at them early and get them nervous and make sure our fans aren't getting frustrated and on the players backs. Like others have said, for me, the first goal wins the tie. We score first and we'll go on to win, if they do then it's game over.

I don't get this 'if they score first, it's game over'. If we do go 0-1 down tomorrow and then we equalise then it's all back on again. Either this side wants it as much as we do or they don't. I really can't see that they don't care so lets wait and see what the final score is before we get too depressive. Hurry up Saturday, 12:00, can't take much more. Next season we must demand that the side makes the autos of Div 1 and saves us all this grief.

I think that it could well go to Extra-Time. I fancy 1-0 to us over 90 minutes and then win it in the additional 30 minutes.
3-1 AET. You heard it here first!

Please let's just score nice and early, Barry Corr header. Then add two more in the second half, Leonard and hurst. Fans on the pitch.. We're going to Wembley. Yeah that's sounds about right
