isnt that exactly what stevenage did though, with precisely zero change out of the centre backs?

with their ageing centre backs with no pace, i think they have more to worry about than prosser and bolger do. phillips especially looked ridiculously slow at times last year, and wont like the sound of corr out battling him while weston and couthirst twist him in knots.

if these two play we will be up against two very experienced and capable centre backs

That's true, but they're rightly in League 2 and therefore they have weaknesses. We'll know how to expose them, but then again Phillips will know the weaknesses in our squad.

Adam Barrett played at Luton with Phillips on the bench. The main danger for us will be the strike partnership of Tubbs and Akinfenwah. Tubbs is prolific at this level and we all know what the other big man can do. That pair are as good as most in this division. However, we have much more pace and movement up front now and should be too much for their back four/five.

"Hoof it football" you say .......... hhhmmmm, like Dan kicks long, knock on from Corr and Weston puts the ball in the net. :omg:

Just an illustration that any (if not all) teams can use that tactic/approach at times.

Anyway, yes - their strikers are a threat in and around the box and from corners and other set pieces ........ so we need to keep hold of the ball, use pace and pull their midfield back to their defenders so that Akinfenwa and Tubbs are isolated and do not receive the service they require.

Other than that, a third clean (league) sheet would be tremendous.

Tubbs finished his goal really well. It was inevitable that Akinfenwah and McNulty would clash seeing as both have their own gravitational pull

I can only pray that Barrett and Phillips play. The only concern I have is Tubbs and the fact we will probably need to outscore the Wombles. I seriously doubt it will be goalless from either side.

Line up
Bentley Bolger Prosser Coker

Worral lenny clifford shaq
weston corr

I liked the swapping of shaq and weston throughout the game on saturday

I think we need to really get the ball out wide very early and get behind them. We have to be prepared to withstand an ariel bombardment and a very physical front two.

I still think we can easily out play them and definitely out score them.

It will be a big test Tuesday night.

So 10 men, no keeper and Bentley at RB! Blimey I know we've had a good start but that's brave! :winking:

In all seriousness I think our opponents will have more to worry about than we do. Tough game yes but with the players we have and the strength in depth of our squad I'm confident we can beat anyone in this league if we're on our game. Hopefully we can extend our winning start to the season on Tuesday.

I am confident that Mr Brown and his helpers will know what Wombles are all about and if the (our) starting 11 needs changing from Saturday.
Wombles, on paper, and 2 games, appear to be a better team than in previous seasons however I do not believe they are fitter, more skilful or have the pace of some of our generally younger lads.
