Southend United Cult Heroes - help needed!

Elmacca

Guest
Hi, I have been asked by my friend to do some research for his site, which sells cult hero t shirts of all clubs in Britain and across the world.

Basically you pick the player you want featured and the caption and colours. There is already an extensive Southend database, but I just wanted to see if there are any players missing who you guys think should be there.

Some players will appear in other clubs or the internations section so its worth typing them into the search bar!

Any that you want list in this thread or on the facebook group and I will do my best. Added players will be updated on the facebook group.
The facebook group is:

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=12756198637

The site itself (for those without facebook) is:
http://www.cultzeros.co.uk/categories.asp?...=SaintCharlie87

Thanks!

What a very random selection - apart from those mentioned above how about Sir Stanley Collymore and Sir Chris Powell, not forgetting my lord Steve Tilson? JCR, Peter Taylor, Simon Royce - the list could go on and on. Freddy should definitely be there though, would have thought he should be first chocie - and also don't understand Revell.

If the fundamentals above are not there, suppose Joe Kurrilla is out of the question, as with Sammy and Billy Best [no stand corrected BB is there !]

To be honest I wouldn't class them as cult heros. A Cult hero would imply somebody that's popular with a section of the fanbase, rather than the majority. Tilly would be classed as a club hero, Thurgood as a cult one.

I'd buy a tee with an action shot of the sarfend bloke who smacked Duguid, was it Maher? Or maybe Ricky Otto holding up a bank?

Some very odd choices there.

Revell, Constantine and Selley should not be there, IMHO.

Iorfa's an odd choice, but I liked him, so he should stay. Best & Cadette are excellent choices.

I can cover those players from the early 90s onwards, and someone else will have to cover the earlier players...

Legends
Brett Angell, Chris Powell, Spencer Prior, Stan Collymore, Ricky Otto, Paul Sansome, Simon Royce, Andy Ansah, Steve Tilson, Kevin Maher, Adam Barrett, Freddy Eastwood, Nicky Bailey, Mark Gower

Cult Heroes
Scott Forbes, Stuart Thurgood, Leo Roget, Rob Newman, Damon Searle, Tes Bramble, Darryl Flahavan, Jay Smith, Che Wilson, Drewe Broughton, Duncan Jupp, Mark Bentley, Efe Sodje (who is already there), Shaun Goater, Peter Clarke, Alan McCormack, Franck Moussa.

Legends.
Billy Best is already nominated, Eddie Firmani, Tony Bentley, Trevor Roberts, Peter Taylor, Bill Garner, Alan Moody, Tony Hadley, Mervyn Cawston, Derek Spence, Dave Cusack, Colin Morris, Anton Otulakowski, and apologies to those I have missed.

Cult Heroes
John "Killer" Kurila, Roy McDonough, John Burridge, Mickey Stead, Dave Worthington, Gary Moore, Stuart Brace, Steve Phillips.

I have corrected your errors Matt.

Clear omissions of Ron Pountney, Roy McDonough, Ian Benjamin and Richard Cadette, just for starters, others as already noted in this thread

Seems to be a lot of confusion about what constitutes a legend and what constitutes a cult hero. Surely Freddy belongs in both camps.
