Southend United beaten 4-0 by Tottenham Hotspur in opening pre-season friendly

As Browny says - it's all about the fitness and getting sharp. Probably a good work out for both Spurs and us and hopefully no real injuries or knocks to worry about as well.

Also a good way for Brown to see if there are some kids at Spurs that would fit in with us.

You could say that and I understand why you would say that but I don't understand at times why we (Southend United) give chances to players like Fairhurst, Sampson and Coulthirst rather than our own youth players.

It's great that we have Benters, Smithy and Payne all in the 1st team squad ........ so clearly we can produce playrs of the right quality from time to time.
