Southend United 1906-2026

IMG_7003.jpegIMG_7001.jpegIMG_6884.jpegIMG_7004.jpegIn an effort to forget about football for a week after Sunday’s disappointment I had booked flights early morning to Pisa from SEN to enjoy loads of pasta, pizza and beer.

The latter I achieved very easily the former not so much as the talk from the locals who speak English is about Pisa getting promoted to Seria A for the first time in 34 years so pleased for them.
Then yesterday it was off to Florence which is a great city but too crowded but gave flashbacks to my last trip there in 1993 when Batistuta was too hot to handle.
Then to the main point of this post today I caught the train to Lucca which is a small town about 20 minutes from Pisa that play in Italian Serie C. They were formed in 1905 so while my wife was taking pictures of the churches and cathedral along with some other interesting buildings I was looking at the many boards around the city celebrating 120 years of the club. They actually played in the top flight in the early 50’s.
Just thought with it being our 120th year next year if we could have an event or two to celebrate it ideally along with promotion!

There will be. I am working on something with Rylee which is quite big from a history perspective with 120 in mind. Can't say any more at the moment ... tho I'd like to, it's pretty good!
Absolutely love hearing this. It’s these small details and touches that remind me that we’ve got our club back and it’s full of fantastic people who care as much as we do. All the best with it, can’t wait to see it 💙🦐
