Can anyone tell me if Matt Harrold did another one of his over the top celebrations for his goal?

Can anyone tell me if Matt Harrold did another one of his over the top celebrations for his goal?

Who cares? And who can blame him after the over-the-top abuse he got while he was here and every time he comes back? All I know is he is a great earner for first goal scorer.

Dont do ratings.

Thought Hurst, Corr, Leonard, Atkinson all stood out for me.

Payne and Woodrow both showed touches of quality at times.

Corr's bit of skill in our own half that started the move for the goal was a moment of sheer beauty. He gets labelled a targetman (because he is) but by eck he is good with his feet for a tall fella when he wants to be.

Worrying about Freddy, thought he was doing well until he chased down the keeper and looked like he injured himself challenging for the ball. If only he was lazy and hadnt bothered

Bentley 6.5 Couple of good saves, didnt command box enough.
White 6.5 fairly solid
Prosser 7 some really vital tackles
Straker.... aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrggghhhhhhhhhh
Thompson 7.5 best display in a blues shirt well played young man
Hurst 6.5 good goal but really poor decision making as well as poor crossing
Leonard 7 good all round play tonight
Atkinson 7 really busy and industrious
Payne.......I probaly going to get some stick but I dont give a ****..........two marks for him.....a lot of the game he looked like a little kid comibg up against men and it was laughable.....he nearly got knocked over just by the ball beinf passed to him ffs. Then in the 2nd half he showed some really good runs, started to relax and play some good stuff. He is going to be a good player no doubt just not sure if it will be in league two....in a perverse way his size and style may be suited to a higher level rather than playing with and against league two cloggers.
Eastwood .......no mark....injured.....
Cauley.....7 made a big difference when came on well played young man
Corr......6 some lovely touches some donkey stuff too

In summary.......we lack a cutting edge in the final third. I thought some of our play in the second half was really good until it came to that final ball or shot. Where was the marking for the harrold goal.....terrible. How straker is keeping his place I have no idea. Why the reluctance to give timlin time on the pitch. Team needs pace up top too. Not a dreadful performance just struggling to score.

A few quotes via CP:

Brown: "When you’re down to your last four defenders and you lose one of your main centre-backs it’s frustrating."

Brown:Phillips wanted to come off but as far as I’m concerned he’s a man & he should stay out there until he can no longer walk."

Brown: "Bristol Rovers came for a point and they got one so fair play to them."

Brown: "It wasn’t for the want of trying that we didn’t win. We need a bit more quality in the final third and a bit of lady luck too."

Brown: "Jack’s a young lad, he’s not a cheat. He hasn’t been taught to dive so why would he go down? It was an unbelievable decision."

Brown: "Fingers crossed we can one or two in this week."

From that we can see he is yet again questioning the player's characters and has criticised Phillips' commitment. Again saying we "lacked quality" and didn't have any "luck". Ends with a typical throw away comment saying he looks to bring in one or two, bet that turns out to be zero. Yet again he doesn't accept responsibility for the draw and the "Bristol came for a point" just sounds like sour grapes.

Regarding Eastwood, he played longer than Woodrow and he got a mark ? Thought Eastwood was playing well, somethings werent coming off but worked hard again and showed some good touches.

Thought you are harsh on Corr and Hurst, in the second half both did very well. Hurst may have made a couple of poor decisions, but he almost dragged a victory out of defeat on his own, he was providing the only real cutting edge we had.

Totally agree with your summary.

What a poor comment. Is this the same Mark Phillips that took pain killing injections in his toe to play the 2nd leg against Orient and couldn't feel his foot for that whole game?

Yeah, man up Mark :nope:

Its plain to see Chapperz that you dont in anyway like PB, im not there to really comment on his performances or SUFCs but it appears to me he says it how he sees it. Give the man a break.

Dont be ridiculous, we want him out there until whatever was causing the issue is aggravated so that we dont even have four defenders next game.

I thought he came off after a clash of heads anyway?

I think my dissapointment of freddy coming off negated me marking him x x

It was disappointing but as soon as he clashed with the keeper in the first half I thought he had hurt himself, could see his shoulders slump. Hope its not too serious as he is one of the things keeping me interested at the moment.

Real shame he came off hope nothing serious....

Phillips was clearly injured after a brutal elbow from Harrold (how the ref gave the fee kick to Brizzie ill never know) Brown is an idiot if he wants players to stay on when they are injured.

On another note, when Mildy was booked for running over to confront Prosser, O'Toole was giving it much larger than Mildy. O'Toole should have had a second yellow but bottled it, the same as he bottled it over the lack of penatly decision.

Just a few points, Marc P was in pain and not wimping out; Fred had a tweeked hamstring. Hence both subs. An average game which we should have won with a better finishing, lady luck and a pen. And a game we could have lost at the end when Luke daydreamed and got mugged by Harrold. Another goal conceded at a set piece; incidentally one where BC was told to stay on the half way line and not defend............strange idea! Most players get a 6/7 with Leonard an overall M of M and Hirst being close behind him with a contender for goal of the month. This game illustrated that Straker isn't an ideal left back and that Luke needs to get closer to his man and concentrate for the full 97 minutes. Payne/Atkinson worked hard. White does his bit but needs to be assertive if he is to keep the captain's armband. Thompson had an OK game.

Freddy was stretching his hamstring out within the first 10 minutes and then almost every time he ran any distance, he would do the same so there was obviously an issue there from quite early on. O'Toole should have been sent off for several reckless challenges, let alone getting involved in the Prosser/Mildenhall thing. Weak referreeing, allowed far too many dubious and potentially dangerous challenges to go.

Riles me hugely but you have to give credit to Matt Harrold for having developed into just the kind of striker we would love if he was playing for us and scoring. Big, strong, niggles away at players - drives the opposition mad! And no, the goal celebration was not over the top at all. Interestingly, our other former player had an appalling game, all the faults we used to criticise him for were shown in abundance....I'm looking forward to Wiggy's comments on him!

Bentley - 6, seemed to not have the authority over his back 4 on a couple of occasions, want to hear him commanding and not becoming a pussycat
White - 7, good game from the skip, some lovely forward play on the wing
Phillips - 6, was doing ok
Prosser - 7, good solid game from Prosser, handled Harrold well early on and got stuck in well
Thompson - 6, thought the youngster did ok, want him to be more of a threat in the air though
Hurst - 7, and that's based on the the 2nd half performance, thought he was marked out of the game much of the 1st half
Atkinson - 7, like him, but want to see more creativity
Leonard - 8, my MOTM, workhorse, got in some excellent blocks in defence too
Straker - 7, thought he had a good game, got forward lots and hassled and harried too
Corr - 6, thought he was right off the boil in the 1st half, lacked effort. Improved no end 2nd half
Eastwood - 7, a committed performance from Freddy, tried hard and put pressure on whenever possible

Subs:
Payne for Phillips - 7, a lively game from Jacko, seemed to galvanise everyone when he came on and we put our best spell of pressure on Brizzle
Woodrow for Eastwood - 7, some lovely stuff from the youngster, liked that his first touch he let their centrebacks know that he was there and wasn't going to be pushed around!

Officials - 6, good on the whole, but 3 major points for me I've mentioned on the Ref Watch thread.

Good atmosphere tonight, but WTF was the Knights' re-enactment at half time all about? Bring back the crossbar challenge or something!

Why are we keeping corr up front when we are defending a set piece
Why are we sending out Eastwood for second half when clearly injured
Why did he not take philips off earlier. His comments on the radio were frankly insulting.

I don't have an axe to grind. But thats a lot of errors in one match

Thought some of the play by Woodrow was excellent, agree with OBL that Corr was off the pace in the first half but improved no end when Eastwood went off.

Don't know about the rest but Ben Clarkson had clearly been working on Freddy throughout half time and it was he who signalled to ask how it was after 10 minutes or so, we don't have a great deal of choice atm and Freddy is clearly enjoying his football again and wanted to try.

Phillips isn't the type to want to come off, unless in pain with a problem. Very insulting from Phil Brown. And then to not even have the sub ready. God knows how aggravated the injury would be if he carried on like Brown wanted him to. Could have put him out for Months.
Gone down in my estimation, acting like a no brain.

That was a nil nil with 2 goals. Thought Payne and Leonard were our stand out performers, and woodrow played really well too. The back 4 (minus White) is looking weak. Thompson is not a centre half as wins nothing in the air IMO.

Really aggrevated by the managers comments on Phillips - proves once again that Phil Brown is a plum. I just hope Sunderland come calling :dim:
