I know that season tickets are no longer being sold and that it's now only pay at the gate. However from what I can make out there is no guarantee that the car park will be open for any particular match and it won't be open on Saturday for the Colchester game. Does anybody have a list of dates when it will be open? The Club's own car parks are fully booked so any ideas for alternative parking within easy walking distance? I'm 76 with a gammy knee and can't traipse miles.

Have you got kids/grandchildren? If so I think it's time you cashed your chips in and got one/several of them to CARRY you to your seat. After all, they wouldn't be alive if you hadn't had a night in all those years ago....

I have three sons and will expect to be carried around once I hit 65.

Yes I have 2 sons and 2 grandsons all season ticket holders as I am. I do go to most games with one son and the grandsons but whilst they can walk to the ground I have a problem in walking any real distance.
Carried around when you're 65. Now that an idea. Perhaps the club could cash in and offer sedan chair lifts from a town centre car park for a small fee.

The school has building work starting mid way through season which is why it can't issue season tickets for the parking. As with lots of building work start dates, finish dates tend to be flexible/guides only.

Agreed. Fossetts Farm was due for completion in 2006 and still hasn't been finished. I won't be using that firm again.

Try the car park next to the VAT office in Vic Avenue, on the slip road, used to be another office block, I think its cheap as well, under £2. Or the Civic Centre if you get there early enough, £2.50 I think.

Plenty of street parking closer than the school car park especially for this Saturdays game which will be a low crowd.

can u park on the roads around the ground

It depends on what time you get to the ground. For evening matches I usually manage to find a space in the roads off Fairfax Drive, usually Macdonald Avenue comes up trumps. Sometimes Prittlewell Chase is ok. But you really have to get to the ground at least 50 mins before ko. Same for afternoon games.

parking could be a nightmare - were going to be achieving 8000+ gates this season l:blush::smile::winking:

I generally aim to park up 30 mins before KO and I think only once last season did I have to park further away than MacDonald.

Does the Civic Centre still offer match day parking?

The council web site states it is chargeable between 09:00 - 18:00. I guess that makes it free for evening games and chargeable for 15:00 hr KOs.

Worth bearing in mind this season that they've got rid of a big section of parking down Victoria Avenue by the empty office blocks opposite the Civic Centre. Used to be free after 6pm so was popular for evening kick offs especially.

Many years ago I used to park off of Burr Hill Chase for free, which is closer than Southend High School. I always had to get there early though to nab a space.

I almost always come by train these days, so I can partake in a pre and post match mug or two of foaming ale served by a buxum wench!!......so i'm not sure if it's all resident parking these days (not the wench )

V popular on match days, but still a potential parking space.
