Southend Fans v Port Vale Fans

So did the game go ahead? Some of you may think.

The answer.....yes, and what a match it was.

Credit goes to all the players. A patched up team which officially gave the go ahead only a week ago, saw us go down 5-3 to the Port Vale fans.
These players didn't know each other, but still tried to play like a team and to go down 5-3 to a team who turned up as if they were professionals is a damn good result. The look on our faces when the PV lot started changing into their full kit

.

We already have a return match agreed when we play away at Port Vale, hopefully the team will be in full flow by then.

What we are aiming for is to play away teams maybe once a month. So all those who want the pub before hand (like me), give the pub a miss for one game a month.

Once we have another game sorted, then a get together can be arranged two weeks before hand, and tactics can be sorted.

Once again, thanks to all those who turned up. I know it wasn't properly arranged, but this being the first game, things can only get better. Also a big thanks to Port Vale for being worthy opponents.

If people think there were issues with the Southend players' performance and tactics, they should have seen the fans' efforts!!!

Probably just scouts
a day trip for those at the eurojam in highlands park?!? lol

Sounds intruiging... next time I might have to watch....! Wonder if the fans team will mirror the fortune of the professionals?!?

Im sure if the clubs informed they'll be supportive of the fan's efforts, maybe even be willing to provide you with a proper kit if the games do become a regular thing. I know they provided 'leisure shirts' for the boys who went to the world athletics championships a couple of months back.
