Southend Echo: 17th June - Francis I'll Stay Put

mr.%20burns.jpg

excellent

Brilliant news and I always thought he would stay as he has definitely settled in the area and with the club and seems to be enjoying his time on the Essex Riviera

Gower on the other hand is really starting to pi$$ me off now. I know it's a big decision for him but the sooner the club knows, the sooner they can move on and really plan for next season.

If the Club wanted to know what he was doing that long ago they shouldn't have let his contract run down like they have.

That's true and I hadn't really thought about that. Maybe they were going to offer him a new contract a year or so ago and he wanted to wait to see what kind of a position we were in come the end of last season. I hope he stays because I think he's a great player on his day and one of our main creative players but if he decides it's time to go then I for one will be wishing him the best of luck and hoping that whoever Tilly no doubt has lined up as a replacement is as successful as Gower was.

Good news that Franno is staying. Can't see the other 2 following suit though. Why is going to take him 2 weeks to come in and sign it though? ;)

Think its safe to say we will lose Flavs and Gower , shame but 7 weeks to find a suitable replacement , still not sure on clarke .

Big players for this club and it will show just how ambitious we are by the quality of their replacements .

Busy times for Ron and Tilly.

Great news, always rated Franno highly and think he will go on to show that even more. Be interesting to see if we do end up signing Sito then.

Yes Franno has the occasional off day but overall I rate him & deffo to stay, erm plsssss!

Gower probably would only get a year & isn't happy about it, welcome to stay in my book but could feel changing of the 'old guard' pushes him aside a little or onto bench occasionally.

If Moussa gets the shout then I expect Macca to share with him his 'aggressiveness'. Respect to Macca for signing when he did.

Bailey has more options outhere but 2 years left - interesting.

Clarkeee plays from the heart and has the talent and mindset of a strong centre back. Always remember him tracking back to get Defoe at WHLane!

Collis again has options, good keeper and will be missed but good luck to him for the future.

Flavs got married & is enjoying that for now so that's tbc?

Is Mulgrew sorted anyone?

Dash

Wolves apparently want £150k I think and we wanted to try and get the price down to £100k. £150k in my mind is an absolute steel for someone of Mulgrew's class but I reckon we'll sign him, even if we do have to pay that price.

Sometimes I ponder if we had been promoted if all these signing difficulties would have arisen etc.......
:madman: ish
Thanks for that,

Dash

Maybe they would, maybe they wouldn't. What is certain is that we still would not be able to meet some of the hugely inflated wage demands that some players make (including David Fox last week it seems) relative to our existing players. While we would have been able to offer Championship football, we still have a very fixed wage structure and only a fool would try to break it for the sake of short term success.
