Funny enough yes I did?? and I live in Wickford..... I reckon I must be on there mailing list cos I did send a letter last time round... when the supporters club at the time encouraged everyone to write to the council if u live within the borough or not

Just shows everyone MUST write direct to the Southend Council adding their support, it shows they DO take note of Letters that are sent….

Some 14060 have viewed about Stan. Not very many this one. In the long term this is more important.

GET READING AND WRITING. ITS YOUR CLUB's FUTURE.

*bump*

Get writing to the Council. The learned Mr. Mcnasty also pointed out that Southend residents - especially those in the St. Luke's Ward - ought to get writing to the Echo to register their support for the new development.

So far, almost all the letters in the Echo supporting the stadium have been written by non-Southend residents; whilst all of the letters opposing the stadium have been written by Southend residents.

That balance needs to be redressed - we need some Southend residents who support the new stadium with their letters in the Echo.

So get writing folks - the pen is still mightier than the sword!

Matt

Done it, although I live the other side of priory park to Fossetts.

The important thing is to get all Southend residents to not only be supportive but to demonstrate why the development is good for the town.

Employment and prosperity for the town are far more attractive benefits to us having a new football stadium.

Theres more letters in the Echo today. Same old story local residents raising concerns about parking. Fair enough comment, however I wish they would acknowledge its only once a fortnight for a few hours and not every day like implied.

Saw the Echo's Letter on 19th Oct on page 10, a women called Carole Shorney who live in Hockley worry about local work etc, but spoil it by include: Sue Steer and Karers has many friend. her phone number is 0207833 9898 and her email: info@localworks.org

Read the lettter then tell her who you think.

Ref. Planning Application 06/01300/FUL

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to express my support for the above planning proposal (the relocation of Southend United Football Club and associated developments). I wish to voice my opinion on the application both as long-term Southend United season-ticket holder, and as a devotee to the town of Southend-on-Sea. Having grown up and lived in nearby Hockley, I have seen many changes to the town. When I left the area to study at the University of Reading in 2003, I didn’t think I would every return to live and work in Southend. The town seems to have stagnated for so long, and when compared, at that time, to vibrant, progressive places such as Reading, and witnessing the improvements and changes there, Southend seemed grim and uninspiring.
But that has changed.

The Pier Hill, the Travel Centre, the new Victoria Plaza, the University of Essex – all of these developments and spending has totally transformed the town since I left. Southend is becoming an exciting place to be – and the new Stadium complex is surely, I am sure you will come to agree, the last piece of the New Southend puzzle. Southend is becoming a place I want to return to and live and work in. And exciting times lie ahead with the retail park, hotel, and stadium all proposed for Fossetts’ Farm. As sad as I will be to see Root Hall go, the team and town can only prosper with the move to this state-of-the art stadium. With the size of the town, the potential for the football club and the Borough is massive – one only need to take a look at the success I’ve witnessed here in Reading to see the benefits of a new stadium complex. What a boost to the town the Madejski stadium has been – I have visibly noticed the buzz around the city centre and the recently headlines Reading FC has been making – one can’t help but fantasize about Southend United making the back pages of the newspapers every week – and for all the right reasons.

There will, inevitably be objections to the development, but I’m sure that you will come to see the benefits far outweigh them and that it would be a seriously regrettable mistake to allow such an exciting opportunity to pass Southend-on-Sea by.

Come on Southend Borough Council, get behind the team, get behind the town, and let’s put Southend back on the map!

Yours faithfully (and optimistically!),

Andrew Christopher Matthews BSc (Hons.) MIET

Lets hope more readers view this site and the one above. Added together only 830 people have viewed so far.

But some 17,678 about Stan.

As I wrote before, in the long term the NEW GROUND plans are far more important for the club.

Send in your opinion today, it's not hard.

If you fail to have your say, you can't moan if the application do not end as you would wish.
