Southend being written off already

I've been perusing 'The Football Forums' championship forum and I came across this thread.

We've been written off as a Championship team before even being promoted, the general consensus seems to be we'll be down by next February. I just thought I'd share it all with you.

Southend are down before they're up - YAWN!

IF we go up then wasn't it the same story this year - getting written off before even kicking a ball! Lets get the title first this year and then we can plan for our assult on the championship next season! Only 49 games to go until our first match in the Prem!

Sounds familar when we went up 15 years ago we were supposed to be relegation certainties but did alright until Jobson messed things up.

Makes me laugh a QPR fan saying how they will beat us so easily. Didnt seem to do so well at Roots Hall last time I seem to recall.

Cant even believe some of the b******s spouted on their. Reckon QPR, Derby and Hull are all pretty sh!t themselves.

We've got to expect to be red-hot favourites for relegation next season. Theres no point getting worked-up about it.

I'm not worried in the least about next season. If we go up I think we'll stay up relatively comfortably. But sadly I think it will be next to impossible for us to stay as a Championship side in the long-term until we get a new ground and start averaging over 12k a week. Which I'm not convinced will ever happen.

Why get worked up? Were we not the favourites for relegation at the start of THIS season? Let 'em think what they like - it makes it all the sweeter when we prove 'em wrong!!

And Beefy I agree with you saying we will struggle to establish ourselves whilst we're at the Hall but I honestly DO think we'll get the move we need sometime in the near future.

I think we'll get the ground. I know we've been here so many times before but this time Ron Martin really sounds like he's going to deliver for us. I just don't know whether we'll ever have the level of support to really thrive as a club though.

That said I never thought that the town would get behind the team in the way that it has over the past couple of years so who knows.

Well the last two seasons we have been tipped for relegation and oops, we went up...

Next year will be really tough, we thought this one would be but look at the teams we will play and next time we wont be wrong!

Still, we are newly promoted team on a high and Im hoping that fact will get us off to a decent start.

Even if we come down, what a year we will have!

Last time we went up to this division it was a case of "Let's have one season and even if we go down we'll have had a load of fun".

I detect the same things being said this time round as well.

Football has really moved on in these past 15 years, but i think we will go up with a different attitude - one which will show we mean business and will relish playing on the slightly bigger stage on a more regular basis.

These so-called fans of bigger clubs can say what they like, and Tilly and the boys will prove them wrong!
