Good dsplay from the Shrimpers, looked in control throughout
Mildenhall 8.5 Good, confident display, apart from 1 dodgy moment caught everything in the air
Francis 8 Did well, especially going forward, good set pieces but was skinned once
Clarke 9 Fantastic display, amazing long range passing down the wing and deserved his goal mouth scramble goal
Dervite 9.5 Will one day be in the champions league. Oozes class and looks calm all the time
Barrett 7.5 Looked good supporting Moussa but didn't have too much to do
Scannell 7 Spectator for much of the game and struggled to read the game. Great footwork for goal
Macca 9 Good goal, stuck in well, good passing, very good performance
Grant 9 Superb tackling and passing, one of his best games, did well covering defence
Moussa 7.5 Did well in the first half but went quiet later on, good movement
Theo 7.5 Not his best performance threatened with his pace
Laurent 7 Didnt look with it today, good vision
Subs
Barney 7 Didnt do much but pressurized keeper
Betsy 7 Put some good crosses in
JFC 6.5 Lost the ball practicaly the only time he got the ball

Ref 7.5 Some strange decisions and let injured players on the pitch for too long but one of the best refereeing decisions this season

TBV 6 If I'm honest I only heard them once or twice, both sets of fans turned out in good numbers but were quiet

Tilly and Brush 8 Got most of the changes right but as normal I would have made the subs earlier and wouldn't have dropped Barney for Laurent

Are yo having a laugh, Grants passing was awefull, gave it away far too many times.

Clarke also was pretty poor today.

JFC loses the ball the only time he gets it, you cant give a 7 for that its at best a 6.

I think those marks are very generous. Today was a very efficient performance. I would take 1 to 1.5 off of all of those though.

Don't get me wrong, I am delighted, and it is difficult to play well when the opposition is so very poor (are Carlisle were ****!). We were very ordinary for 60 mins, but we got the job done and upped it to kill them off.

Very generous!
Dervitte, Francis, Barret and Macca stood out but the rest were pretty ordinary. NIce goal from Scannell but the wide positions are still a concern. Thought Barney was unlcuky to be dropped also.
Overall a pleasing win but Carlisle were very, very poor.

Mildy 7 - Pretty much a spectator but solid when called upon for crosses and balls around the box

Francis 7.5 - Got into more advanced positions down the right than Scannell did. Only had one of his trademark switch off moments, defensively wasn't teseted much. Good free kick deliveries especially the one that smashed the bar.
Clarke 7 - Solid but with a few wild sliced clearances
Dervitte 7 - was a bit too casual a couple of times but again solid
Barrett 7 - As with Francis, not really tested much by their right winger and him and Moussa weren't really involved much down the left

Scannell 6.5 - took his goal well and had some nice flicks and touches but didn't really offer the kind of natural width I was hoping for. Still looks knackered after 10 minutes.
Grant 7 - I was worried about him after the early booking but he finally calmed it down apart from some sloppy passes
McCormack 8 - Great goal and full of energy. More like his old self.
Moussa 7 - Anonymous but did ok when we did actually bring him into the game.

Laurent 6 - Frustrating performance, I think I prefer him as an impact sub instead of starting him. Didn't look at the races today.
Robinson 7 - His pace was a worry to their back 4 when played it into the channels, setup the 2nd goal and had a shot from the edge of the area that whistled over the far post.

SUBS
Barney 7 - Did well chasing lost causes and had a thunderous shot into the far corner parried away by the keeper
Jeff 6 - Can't remember him doing anything
Betsy 6 - as above

The Ref 7 - Slightly fussy but did well with his cards, seemed to prefer a long talking to where most refs would have flashed a card. Grants booking could have easily been a red with some refs.

Fans 5 - Both home and away support in the 7800 crowd were muted today.

Their no 17 (Cleveland somebody) 4 - a W@nk£r in the mould of Bas Savage. Tried to get Grant sent off with a stupid dive and generally greeted decisions with stupid histrionics until finally booked.

I thought Scannell had a good game today. A few things didn't quite go his way but he stuck at it and took his goal very well.

In the past I've said that he starts a game very well but then fades out towards the end. Today I thought he was the opposite and looked to be growing in confidence as the game went on.

Scannell is a strange anomoly. I remember in my playing days that once in a while only 10 men turned up to a game so someones mate who turned up to watch got to play as a ringer. Just ran around for 90 mins, not knowing what they were doing but made the numbers up.

Scannell looks like that player quite often, then out of the blue pulls off a bit of sublime skill and scored a fantastic goal as he did today.

The jury is still out on Scannell for me. He has it in him, it's just how to make it on a regular basis?

ha ha, thats exactly how I think of him. The way he was almost running away from the ball at times reminded me of how I used to play on Sunday mornings

I was impressed by the number of fans Carlisle brought down, would say that out of the 7,700 and something about 200 and something ish were from Carlisle, impressive considering we took 181 up there and we were doing as poorly then as they are now.

Carlisle have a London supporters club so I doubt they would all of travelled that far.

Impressive turnout yes but I don't recall them doing one song, the only time they came alive was when they felt they should have had a penalty.

Agree with that, I thought both of sets of fans could have been better but at 3-0 down they weren't in the best of spirits

Mildenhall 7 - nothing really to do, but a couple of fumbles.

Francis 7.5 - A much better performance today. Good dead balls, good running and kept concentration.
Clarke 7 - Bits and pieces. Some cracking tackles and a couple of superb cross field balls, but mixed with some fairly comical and dangerous defending at time.
Dervite 7 - As with Clarke, read the game well, made important interceptions but a couple of times he removed his brain completely.
Barrett 7 - A typically strong Barrett performance, but should have put his early header away

Scannell 7 - So frustrating. He got precious little service in the second half and it seemed to get to him. Took his goal extremely well.
McCormack 9 - MOM. All action for 90 mins. Fantastic finish for the 3rd.
Grant 6 - Poorest performance for sometime. Too many misplaced ball and mistimed tackles. Fortunate to stay on.
Moussa 7 - An erratic performance today, faded as the game went on.

Robinson 8 - His pace is frightening and he kept the pressure on the Carlisle defenders.
Laurent 6 - Fairly anonymous.

Subs
Barnard 8 - Good runs, good effort and probably earned a start next week.
Betsy 7 - Look dangerous at times as piled on the pressure at the end.
JFC 6 - Not on long enough

Ref 9 - Reckon that was the best performance of the season. No silly cards, no "look at me", tried to let the game flow and was consistent with his decision making.

Crowd 5 - Very poor indeed.

Mildy - 7.0
Franno - 7.5
Clarke - 7.0
Dervite - 7.0
Barrett - 7.5
Scannell - 7.0 (was poor but a nice goal IMO)
Grant - 7.5
Macca - 8.0
Moussa - 7.0 (loved his runs through the middle at times)
Laurent - 6.5
Theo - 6.5

subs:
Barney - 6.5
Betsy - 6.5
Big man - 6.5

Standard for us over the last couple of months - not a great performance, many frustrating moments, yet 3 points. The changes did us good though and we've got a great chance to get another win under our belts on Friday.

Ratings:

Mildenhall 7: Very, very little to do. As usual he commanded well.

Francis 7: First half he was very good but his concentration seemed to go as the game went on and he became a bit too relaxed. Having Scannell in front of him seemed to help his forward play as when there was a chance to bomb forward, Scannell tucked in taking his man with him, leaving acres for Francis to run into.

Clarke 7: His usual solid performance and a goal to boot. My fingers will be crossed until the summer that he signs a new deal and a Dervite clone is brought in to play alongside him.

Dervite 7.5: Barring a couple of moments where he tried to do a bit too much he was pretty darn good.

Barrett 6.5: As usual our left side was bare for most of the game. Wasn't troubled too much defensively.

Scannell 6.5: The more the game went on the more he was starved of the ball. In the first half he showed some nice touches and got into some good positions, but in the second half he seemed to be ignored. Scored a fantastic goal though, showing such composure and ability. Hopefully he can kick on now as anyone who saw most of pre season will know he's got it in him to be a good asset given the chance.

Grant 7: He is an odd one. I'll repeat that he's improved massively, but the inexplicable passing to the crowd when trying a simple pass does infuriate me. I wish he'd also cut out the laying prone on the ground dying swan technique when he gets clattered. John Stannard came back to the bench after "treating" him late on and said - usual thing with Granty, milking it and saying he'd been done but there's nothing wrong with him.

McCormack 7.5: For me, his best performance of the season. You probably owe me green for complementing him OBL don't you? :p

Moussa 6.5: As usual he was neat and tidy in possession, but at the end of the day wasted on the left wing.

Robinson 6.5: The usual high effort from him, but apart from the attempt at the end he was too threatening really. In my opinion he's a very useful League 1 striker, but I can't really see him doing it week in week out for Watford in the Championship, which should be a good thing for us.

Laurent 6: Apart from a couple of flashes in the first half an hour I thought he was pretty poor again. I can't help but have this nagging thought in the back of my mind that we were far too hasty to give him the extended deal so shortly after putting him in the team. I can't see when his next goal is going to come..............

Subs:

Barnard 6: He nearly recreated his second Brighton goal but unfortunately he put it far too close to the dodgy Williams.

Betsy 6: Made a couple of nice bursts once on.

Christophe /: Didn't have too many touches of the ball in his short time on.

I just dont understand Scannell. For large periods he does very little but then out of the blue he produces a bit of magic. The lad clearly knows what to do when the ball is at his feet i think all he needs is a few games under his belt and a bit of confidence. You could clearly see how much that goal meant to him.

Hopefully the goal will kick-start Scannell's season and he'll go on from here to recreate his pre-season form. The crowd were getting on his back so he showed great character and composure to take his chance.

As for Laurent, he is looking a shadow of the player who tore defences apart before Christmas. However, I don't think he's fully recovered from his recent injuries and only looks about 70% fit. I'm cautiously optimistic he'll come good again.
