Southend beating Bristol Rovers 2-1 in the 4th round of the FA Cup back in 1952 at the old greyhound Stadium in Sutton Road. Lovely reminder of how football used to be played.

Great personal link for me, Jack French scoring the winner used to run a hardware shop a few doors down from me in Shoebury High Street when he retired, no mega bucks life styles for players back then, and I went to school with his daughter. Nice man who used to do a good deal on parafin....... not a bad player either!

Ah,well, I'll just keep watching all the clips of the Kursaal, cockle boats, Wall of Death and mud football...... didn't know that there used to be an annual football match on the mud by the Pier, not sure how long for but looks fun.........
