Something to watch

The Sopranos is better than The Wire and series 5 of The Wire is ****.

Jinny Sac is so fat when she goes camping the bears have to hide their food.

Nowhere nearly as good as The Wire, Sopranos, 24 or Game of Thrones but if you want a bit of all american cheese then Friday night lights would be my shout

We're really enjoying it on Sky Atlantic.

Same here, I remember getting as far as series 4 before C4 started ****ing around with the scheduling, so it's great to see a lot of the later stuff I missed.

Does anyone know for sure how many series there were? Currently on 6.

Of course the best US series was X-Files. (Before Mulder left anyway)
And the best police series was Homicide, or NYPD Blue

Yes, I am stuck in the 90s.

I have never seen the Wire, Sopranos, or anything significant in the last 10 years thanks to no Sky, and a family that take up all my time.

But there are still loads of shows that are massively entertaining, and sometimes it's good to watch something that is massively impressive and thought-provoking, and sometimes it's good to watch a South Park.

Wooah!

South Park uses juvenile humour to mask the fact that it is the deepest, darkest most biting satire out there. It only gets away with things because it's using cartoon children to say it.

Just look at the subjects it tackles: race, religion, paedophilia, disability, politics etc etc. How are those subjects not thought-provoking? FFS, this is a programme that has a black character called Token! Stop and think about that.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone are the modern equivalent of Jonathan Swift.

Was going to suggest this. Whilst it is a bit cheesy, there's a lot of substance behind it.

Very enjoyable. My wife enjoys it too, there's nowhere near as much American football as she'd feared.

I'm watching Season One - are all those 'kids' only supposed to be 16?

It is weird to have High School sports on the radio and even on the telly sometimes. We live in a town of about 16,000 people and the high school 'athletes' are almost celebrities. Snot nosed little turds.

I'm sure to live and be there 24/7 is a bit much but it must be a interesting to watch

Homesick? Don't come back in a hurry,will you?.:winking:

Anyway, :off topic:

Last nights' FNL was really good. Loving the development of Buddy being completely despicable, and Smash is such a great character.

i cannot believe someone slagged off Trueblood. By watching this, you get to keep the Mrs happy, and watch what is effectivly soft porn at the same time... not a problem with that!

Criminal Minds is something i would recommend, as JT says, most American drama has so much more depth (and budget!) than anything the UK produces.
