Someone to consider?

Matt the Shrimp

aka Harry Potter
Well, I know I'm waging a one-man campaign about this particular young man, but I did notice this on Sky Sports this morning:

League Two outfit Bury continue to plan for next season by securing the signature of Allan Smart. With strikers Chris Porter and Colin Kazim-Richards stalling on fresh deals at Gigg Lane...

I have yet to meet a Shakers fan (a) who doesn't rate CKR; and (b) who doubts that he'll be the next David Nugent. Even if we've not seen much of him yet, surely all the Shakers fans can't be wrong...?

By all accounts, young CKR is also a Southerner and is a wee bit homesick. So, he's a young prospect, he's homesick for the South and he's stalling on a deal with the Shakers.

Can someone please get Tilly to go and tap him up...?!

I'm sure he played against us and looked quite lively (mind you anyone up front for them that day would have looked lively if compared to the comedy act that was Savage), if not a bit raw. A typical former Crystal Palace young forward really.

Might be a useful player in a year or two's time.

Nope. I've just chatted to a few Shakers fans all of whom commented that (a) he's got a lot of potential; and (b) he's a homesick Southerner.

Seems like too good an opportunity to pass up, that's all.

Don't be a tit, Paul...

After all, now that we've done it, I wouldn't have missed the Play-off final for the world. I still get a buzz from the feeling I had when Freddy's goal went in... I had a few seconds of "white-out" where I couldn't actually see anything - all I could feel was "YYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS!!!!", before we (well, those unfortunate enough to be seated around me - Mr. B, Spiff, Barry Harris, Custard Splat (who was behind me)) all seemed to engulf one another in mutual hugs of celebration.

Awesome. There are few times in my life that I've felt better than that.

It was magic wasnt it

I thought Custard Splat was going to send us all crashing onto the tier below in his eagerness for a hug

Its been said many times and IMO its true - if you dont win the Championship, then the playoffs are the next best way to go up.

Of course the flipside is that its better to finish 8th than to lose the playoff final...

Is it? I dunno... on the basis that "it is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all", I'm not sure I agree with you.

It's certainly not better financially, that's for sure...

How would any of us really know? We've never lost in a play off final!

How many of the team that lost the playoff final are still with that club, for starters

Ah, but that surely tells us more about an absence of harmony behind the scenes at that particular club, more than anything else. There's been no mass exodus from Preston or Hartlepool, for example...
