SOME OF OUR "SUPPORTERS"...

I'm not happy with how things are. For some reason, it's just not happening for us.

Although I am feeling deflated... even angry... at the current problems and the seasons of heartache, there is no way on Earth I would do what some of our 'supporters' did this afternoon.

My brother, who made the long journey up to Dale, sent me a text saying that, as Gower and Gray went to clap the travelling fans, they were met with the abusive lines of, "F*ck off you useless c*nts" etc.

I think it's about time these so-called fans did that themselves because, as 'supprters', they are the very definition of 'uselss c*nts'.

Things like this just annoy me because, at the end of the day, who does it help? Granted the scumbags who said this will feel a little bit better, however, where it really matters which is on the pitch, it would have an extremely negative effect. The players' confidence will undoubtably have been fragile after the game having lost to one of the worst teams in the football league and it would have been dealt a massive blow having heard their own fans calling them useless c**ts.

This is the complete reverse to what the fans were doing up in lincoln. Singing, clapping and shaking hands with their heros. What a difference a game makes.

I dont think you can classify Gower as a useless c*nt no matter how you look at it.

Three games in and its the same old story, im sure they'll put in that much more effort now after being called that...

Granted you can't call Gower a useless c**t but you could certainly call him a lazy c**t. He doesn't track back and do his defensive duties unlike Maher. He undoubtably has the talent to be one of the best players in the Coca-Cola League Two. If he knuckled down in games and did the defensive side he'd be imense.

I never voice his at the games but on the way back from Lincoln, myself and the two guys I travelled up with all agreed with this. We hade a discussion about this on the way back and I've mentioned it on here, why can't other fans do this?

He was looking better today. He took on some players a bit more and showed a bit more skill, but still he wasn't quite at his best IMO. As for the abuse I didn't hear anything and I'm sure the players should know that this is just one or two fans and the rest are behind them so long as they give it all for the club.

At least they attend games, how many do you go to?

Call yourself a fan??

ps. For the benefit of any who may be in doubt, this is NOT a serious post!

I'm perpared to give Gower the benefit of the doubt, maybe he still hasn't fully recovered from his surgery. Although he has said that this is the first time in his career he has had a pre-season and his feeling fitter then ever. If this is the case why doesn't he track back? He does have the engine to be able to do it but just doesn't like to get dirty and do the unglamorus side of the beatiful game.

You can't accuse Gower of being lazy, he's always running at defenders and trying his best to create things. He's by far our best player.

Yes he does run at players, I'm not questioning that. What I'm saying is that the amount of times Gower actually tracks back can be counted on one hand. He is extremely lazy when it comes to putting in the hard work. He doesn't mind running forward, creating and scoring goals but he doesn't like to track back, tackle and generally work hard for the defence.

How simplistic is that? Your post doesn't even address the point being made - he doesn't do the DEFENSIVE side of his job, or when he does it is with a certain lack of enthusiasm. It was something that even I (and I am no master tactical analyser) spotted and reported on after the Carlisle match!

There was a fair amount of abuse directed at those of us who were applauding them too, I certainly heard the phrase "Why are you clapping them, you to**ers?" used by one man. Not sure who this guy was but he and his friend were screaming abuse at everyone right from the start and it's not the first time I've sat through one of their tirades.

I actually thought we played quite well at times today, better than last weekend performance wise - if only we could score.

Apologies in advance for the spelling, grammar etc. I've just travelled to Rochdale and back so I'm nackered.

As I was at the game....
A number of players came over to clap the fans and the majority clapped back however a couple greeted the players with less than pleasant comments. I later spoke to one of the 'culprits' who was originally commenting on Broughtons lack of skill. I pointed out that he gave 110% and commented on the fact that I clap the players for their commitment to the club. Fair enough a lot of players did not perform to their optimum however they do not go out to lose and do want to win.
Lets put another spin on it....
If the players didn't come over to clap then these people would be moaning due to lack of commitment to the club. Remember players such as Belgrave rarely clapped the fans and look at the stick he took (and rightly so may I add).
Clapping at the start and end of the matches Isn't nessesarily a sign of congratulations or good play but a symbol of (sorry to use this word again) commitment. The fans clap the players as a sign of thanks for playing for our club and for the effort they put in and the players clap the fans for travelling and supporting the team.
So come on lads lets support the team for a while before really criticising. We've only had three games and theres loads of points to play for. So lets forget whats happened and really support the boys this saturday and even if it does go wrong let it get bad before it gets better.
So lets support the team and hopefully results will increase with the support.

Yes that guy said that to me and other mate at the end. I was mostly clapping to Drewe he came over and I could hear him say thanks for the Support and Sorry for the 2-0 lost. What a top bloke he is.

This is so boring Wiggy. You sit there convinced of your own superiority full of pithy little comments yet you have never in my memory EVER said anything CONSTRUCTIVE!

Here is a challenge for you. Every night, try to think of one good thing about Southend United, and post it on here. For a change, compliment an individual performance. Thank the person who sold you your ticket for doing it right. Read the programme and find something good to say about it. When you start to look for the good, it can make a big difference to the way you see the big picture.

You can do it if you try.
