I was shocked and appauled by some of our so called supporters yesterday. The man that wears glasses with a beard and is holding a stretched out scarf thats cardboard cutout is on top of the club shop was a disgrace. He sits a couple of rows behind me in the RBS, you know who you are if youre reading this. Well, all season he slags off the players. Last season Wilson was his target. A committed, solid and title winning left back. What did Wilson do wrong last season? This season he targetted JCR, also when wilson made his 1st start this season before the players had kicked off he was shouting at wilson. That week my mate spoke to him in the gym and wilson said he can always hear what that man is shouting out and it certainly doesnt help or motivate him.
Well the last few games this so called supporter has targetted Bradbury. Yesterday i thought Bradbury was having a good game, doing his usual hold up play but he actually had shots in the 1st half from outside the box etc. Then when Bradbury chased a lost cause that even the pace of JCR wouldnt have got there, the supporter thought he would shout out 'why dont you f*** off Brabury' right infront of him. Bradbury might not have scored enough goals but is it his fault that we have conceeded 70 goals this season. The worst in the league? Is it his fault we are relegated.
My mates dad replied to him as 'why dont you f*** off ?', a scuffle nearly broke out. 5 minutes later JCR (another of his targets) skipped past 2 or 3 defenders in the box, crossed the ball in for BRADBURY to flick onto Hammell, who's shot was imo superbly saved and BRADBURY charged through a see of blue and orange to score.
I then had a go at the supporter asking who helped create the goal and then finished it, he was slightly embarrassed. But did he stop? No. A few minutes later he carried on abusing Bradbury. Then when Bradbury was involved in the incident that injured a Luton Player, when the ref was talking to Bradbury the supporter shouted out 'send the fat c*** off' and this is in the family enclosure with children around after all.
With 6 home games to go, 5 off which were relegation candidates we all knew that if we win our home games we are safe. We even had the luxery of just winning 4 of them due to the fact we then beat Ipswich and Preston away. We needed the 12th man in the crowd, did we get it? No. At 0-0 with 15 minutes on the clock fans were shouting out Shoot when players were 40 yards from goal. Or when a player was 20 yards out but had 3 defenders standing directly infront of him. Does this help? no. Then groans were made when a miss layed pass went astray. This would build up the tension and the players were then under pressure.
The majourity of the season the home crowd apart from the loyal supports have moaned and groaned and shouted at the players etc because we are not winning. We all knew it would be a hard season and are Not used to losing for a copule of years.
We can blame players, managements selection, transfers, substitutions and tactics and match officials for out relegation but large sections of the crowd are part of our relegation. The players needed us at times and we failed them us much they failed us.
Please note: im not having a go at us loyal supporters.
