Sodje

glensufc

Youth Team
Saw Sodje arrive at the club this morning, and a few of us noticed that he appeared to be limping slightly. Hope it's nothing serious and just a bit of stiffness cos we need him Saturday.

I thought he was fantastic last night. Worked hard and really attacked the ball. Considering his age and the fact he's coming back from serious injury he really put some of the younger lads to shame. Hope his attitude rubs off on some of the other players.

Sometimes I think he should be captain, just because it's clear the effort he puts into everything

Best player on the pitch by a mile last night. Can we sign all the brothers please....

the worrying thing for me was everyone was hoping he would come back and shore things up but we still managed to concede 3 at home against a 10-man bottom of the lesgue team.

Short of Fred thought he has the best player by a mile last night. Love the mans level of commitment.

One of the papers at the weekend suggestd Sam Sodje was going to Leeds on loan, shame Efe can't twist his arm to come to us, Sky money could pay the wages.

Would be ideal, pacy and good in the air plus I'm sure they'd play well together.

Won't happen though......

I thought he was going to make the difference

Still, early days yet

I thought Gower had a good game having plenty of the ball etc.....although anyone else notice that we have resorted to clearing the ball hoof stylie from our end rather than building from the back.....many occasions noticed that our clearances were finding opposition......

Exactly. What I find hard to believe at the moment is that for the last two seasons our success was based largely on a solid defence. All of a sudden we seem to be leeking goals left right and centre.

The Championship is faster, movement is better and the passing tends to be slicker. Finishing has been clinical too, well against us anyway.

I agree entirely that our previous success was built on a solid defence combined with Freddy up front. We didn't concede a single goal in the play-offs.

But think what that defence was. Our key defender was Spencer Prior. Spinner cleared up all crosses coming into the area and used his experience to organise the defence.

In front of the defence we had Mark Bentley and Carl Pettefer. Petts protected his full-back and added an extra body into the middle of the park and Mark Bentley basically meant we hardly ever conceded a goal on the counter attack as he would always slow the move down.

Those three were always our key defensive players, despite Barrett and Flahavan getting the plaudits.

yehh i did think sodje had a good game, but he doesnt half to like just chuck it up the pitch when its uncalled for. allthough he did look good lasnite, he coudnlt of looked that good if we let in 3 goals!

Yep and it's happened ever since Harrold got back in the side, it's similar to the situation at Liverpool with Crouch - it's not attractive and it's not effective.......

I saw him after the Leeds game on Saturday & he was hobbling then. It might have something to do with the "gay" white flip-flop/sandal things he was wearing!! Didn't show any signs of an injury last night, despite the White Ricketts trying to squash him!!

Sodje was by far the best SUFC player last night. Its just a shame that we don't have another 3 of him at the back.

Except whenever gower got by the byline he always lifts the ball up into the air for someone to head, but only harrold is tall enough. He should whip the balls in along the floor more often i think

& Gower should play on the right wing where he won't have to cut back inside because he's not left footed!!

Indeed, i think alot of people were expecting Efe to sure things up and he has, but the lets be honest, the defence needs a lot more work done to it than just putting Efe in there.

He does the job of a defender, strong, quick and doesn't mess around. Now all we need is the others to do the same!
