So glad these murdering scum are going to be OK

There's not much you can do though, is there? Any reluctance to aid her 'disappearance' is going to look like state-sponsored lynching. Granted, I'd don't think society would suffer too much from her demise, but opening the door to mob rule isn't going to help anyone.

It would help any other poor child that this bitch decided to push out.

And that saved life would then be cancelled out on the first occason that this new, state-endorsed mob got the wrong person. Remember the protests in Portsmouth that almost led to the lynching of a respected paediatrician?

We should never lose sight of how incredibly stupid the general public can be.

Were those the protests sparked by the News of the World piece, Slips?

That's the one. This morning's press coverage was all a bit familiar, wasn't it?

Don't get me wrong, I'd be delighted if the first thing she did when she walked out of prison was to slip off the kerb and brain herself on impact. I'm just not sure that, as a society, we should be looking to push her.

Incidentally, did anyone glance at the papers this morning and think, "Oh no! Is Meatloaf dead?"

I can't be the only one.

I don't approve of mob rule, but I do believe that justice hasn't been served thus far in this case, and somebody has to do something.

It also doesn't surprise me that a self-confessed 'leftie' thinks that the proletariat is 'incredibly stupid'.

I didn't say that, you great big Repub! I said that they 'can' be very stupid. At our most inane, we are a society that needs to be reminded that bags of nuts contain nuts, that the contents of a coffee cup may be hot and that wet floors might be slippery. It's always the lowest end of the spectrum that ruins it for everyone else.

I do agree that it doesn't feel like justice has been served and it won't until I can get the sick out of my mouth every time I see a picture of this harpie, but your denounciation of mob rule is rather let down by your view that 'somebody has to do something.'

You've won the argument with the 'Meatloaf' line sir. I will now retire.

(But to be clear, I want something done before the 'mob' has the chance to administer justice. Yes, people can be ridiculously stupid, but they also know when something is fundamentally unjust.)

Eloquentally put, I agree entirely. I just don't know what the 'something' should be, I think that's probably a question for wiser minds than mine.

We should never lose sight of how incredibly stupid the general public can be.

We should also never lose sight of how incredibly pathetic and dehumanizing the government and judicial system can be at times.

Who knew that Dave was the wiser mind Slipper was thinking of?

It is an interesting idea, isn't it?! Mandatory sterilisation for those found responsible for killing their children...

I think we should float it with the focus groups.

Christ, I've got to stop watching The West Wing....
