Snooker - World Championships

Just watched the last frame of the session of Judd Trump and Domonic Dale and I tell you what Judd trump is such a quality player - I saw him last year at the crucible and he was magic but this year I think he can win it

John Higgins. Day 1. Round 1. Frame 8 (I believe). 147.

That's a lovely 150k in his account (highest break and making a 147).

I was lucky enough to win a Betfred competition for 2 VIP passes for both sessions yesterday. Was on table 2 which was probably the worse one (saw Hawkins/Stevens and the conclusion of O'Sullivan/Williams) but nevertheless a great experience. The final deciding frame of the Trump/Carter match which we could watch after Hawkins and Stevens had finished was thrilling. Trump played some incredible shots and managed to get the 3 snookers that he needed but credit to Carter for pulling through. Like he said afterwards, Trump maybe needs to improve his all-round game slightly and learn that it's not all about the blockbuster shots. I met Dennis Taylor who was an absoloute gent, along with some Barnsley player (Jim O'Brien). My prediction before the tournament was Ronnie and I'm sticking with it but it's been so open this year with a lot of seeds going out early. Maguire's on fire today.

So Hendry has retired after getting walloped by Maguire, never liked the bloke but you cant deny what a great player he was.

Because Hendry had to qualify this year I guess there may have been a back-up arrangement with the Beeb. Maybe he had a non-refundable hotel booked in Sheffield.
