Sky Sports

How about supporting your local team?

I must watch four or five games on Sky in an average week, but that doesn't stop me getting down to Roots Hall every other Saturday.

Whether they overcharge or not is purely your own perception. Personally, I watch an awful lot of football, cricket, NFL and golf which are all included in the package, therefor for me it's a wise investment. The real debate should be how the EU's ruling that foreign providers should be allowed in pubs will affect live attendances.

Sky wish to corner the market & raise their charges to everyone. Monopolies commision need to investigate IMHO.
I attend games at RH, some away games & manage some rugby matches.....

Yes, of course they overcharge but there is little alternative!

yes there is - I have not had sky sports for 18 months and I haven't missed it one bit. Movies are the next to go. In fact I'm tempted to go the whole hog and go freeview. Sky need to be very careful. When times get tough, and they will do, the first thing to go will be unnecessary luxuries. Sky will be very high up that list at current prices

Do Sky charge too much for their Sports service?
Not sure how that article reflects on domestic pricing which others have commented on. With regards commercial, it's only fair that it is charged higher. Video shops used to pay more for rental licences, corporates pay more for corporate licences of software.

If I purchased Microsoft Office Home and Student and put it on my staffs PC, I could quite rightly be done for theft. How is this landlady's act different?

More to the point, why is there only one monopolies commission

Because Greece is a member of the EU and she's shrewdly exploited a loophole in Sky's pricing policy in this era of globalisation.

If the Greek product included the licence to show the football in a pub, fair enough.

Because she basically used Open Office /Liber Office which is provided as an alternative but gives the same service.

Yeah I occcasonially go to Sports bars in Barcelona when Southend(rarely)or Fulham are playing.
Why btw?

You say you won't touch Sky with a bargepole, I'm guessing your reasons being antipathy towards Murdoch, and not wishing to line his pockets. Yet you watch Sky Sports (albeit not your subscription) and therefore you're still contributing to Murdoch's wealth and his increasing domination in broadcastingetc.
