Sky Sports News - NOW!

Sky Sports News just showed a quick bit about southend and the pitch, with it looking very frozen - they went to an ad break but will have more on it in a few minutes

edit - it's just started with all the headlines so any bit about the blues is likely to be a bit later in the hour. Just thought that the images they showed it was extremely obvious that the game would never have gone ahead, the pitch was still very frozen

To be fair to the ref (i know it makes a change) listening to his comments about if they had called it off at 2pm then people would have said why didn't you give it longer? i think he was probably right on this and imo did want it to go ahead and gave it every opportunity to.

I was told (by someone who was told by Mr Spooner) that Ron had been trying to gey it called off on monday (and yes I may be niave but I do take things as read when told by ex players)

No, we'd have said fair enough; conditions are only going to get worse, not better.

At 7.30 the pitch was frozen mostly down the west stand side. all the players were warming up as normal and those i spoke to didnt have any problem playing. and b4 any1 questions my info, i was in the ground when the decision was made. yes, there was a chance that the pitch could freeze, but at the time the temp. was about 3 degrees and was easily taking the stud. both teams were def. up for playing. at least the game should have started baring in mind the time cancelled and the fans that were already at the ground.

And yet last night Ron was being accused of everything that was wrong with Last night, SUFC and the wider world in general.

Its true, i also believe he was the doctor that injected the refs mum with phalidimide (spelling?)

There were plenty of other clubs who called off early.
