SKY SACK RODNEY MARSH

Rodney Marsh has had his contract terminated by Sky Sports after making offensive comments on air about the Asia tsunami disaster.

The former Queens Park Rangers and Manchester City striker appeared as a pundit on Monday night's You're on Sky Sports programme.

A Sky Sports spokesperson said on Tuesday: "We have today ended Rodney Marsh's contract with Sky Sports.

"The decision was made this morning, following a review of his comments on last night's edition of You're on Sky Sports.

"During the live night-time phone-in Rodney made comments that were offensive and inexcusable.

"An apology was made within the programme and Rodney's comments were edited and removed from later transmissions.

"These remarks should never have been made and Sky would like to offer its apologies to those who were offended."

according to one of the Hattrick forums he told this joke

David Beckham says that he isnt interested in a move to Newcastle after what the TOON ARMY did in South East Asia

Tis a shame, Like Rodney Marsh, makes a nice change to the usual pundit. poor comment to make but surprised that Sky sacked him.

I actually find that rather funny, I think people need to lighten up a little.

he should have been sacked for using a joke that old! ..
lighten up a little? lighten up a lot.. !
i guess sky are worried about their huge audiences in that region.. oh and all the whingers in this country

I don't think it was that bad a comment. ok it was a joke in poor taste but I wouldn't put it in Big Rons league.

I'm surprised they sacked Rodders for this but have kept George Best on the payroll through thick and thin despite all his wife beating antics in the past 18 months.

Quality.

I was talking to a Sri Lankan beach bar owner the other day. Asked him hows business? He said it was good now that the regulars are drifting back in.

It was really a joke that took the **** out of Beckham and surely was not offensive towards the victims of the tsunami.

OK, it was ill-advised but a telling off offense at worst.

online petition, yep I was thinking that as well. I'm sure one will pop up sooner or later.

In the Sun it said McLintok said the "N" word on the phone in before and he was not punished.

The only time I was entertained by Marsh's mouth was the season when he bet that he would go-bald if Bradford stayed up. They obliged and he had to sit in the middle of the pitch for a haircut watched by 20000 baying Bradford supporters.

Classic!

Exactly, surely wasn't worth a sacking, Maybe Sky had been wanting to get rid of him for a while and this was the most ideal opptunity ?

I don't think he should have been sacked but what the hell was he thinking of saying a joke like that on air with all these politically correct lefties just ready to juMP on anything in this day and age.

He must have had a few turps before he wen't on the show one thinks.
