Last week, I was sitting in the morning sun, staying there until the evening arrived, just watching ships and stuff coming in and going again.
Quite frankly, I was just wasting time. But what I want to know is this...

Is it acceptable to sit on the dock of the bay or not?

Quite possibly, if you are resting your bones and this loneliness won't leave you alone.

lazy *******....:D

Were you just watching the ships roll in, and then watching them roll away again ??

If so, then yes... perfectly acceptable :cool:

It's OK to sit there if you're just watching the tide roll away, but what I've always struggled to understand is where someone has roamed 10,000 miles, and then decides to set up his home on the quayside....

:p

Sitting on the Dock of the Bay
- Otis Redding

Sitting in the morning sun
I'll be sitting when the evening comes
Watching the ships roll in
And I watch 'em roll away again

{Refrain}
Sitting on the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll away
I'm just sitting on the dock of the bay
Wasting time

I left my home in Georgia
Headed for the 'Frisco bay
'Cause I had nothin to live for
And look like nothing's gonna come my way

So I'm just...
{Refrain}

Look like nothing's gonna change
Everything still remains the same
I can't do what ten people tell me to do
So I guess I'll remain the same

Sittin here resting my bones
And this loneliness won't leave me alone
It's two thousand miles I roamed
Just to make this dock my home

Now, I'm just...
{Refrain}
(Whistle)

Blimey, they've written a song about it!!!?

Well they did change the lyrics for you SBH.

Sitting in the morning sun
I'll be sitting when the Burger van comes
Watching my Chips roll in
And I watch The roll toasting again.

:D

Jeeeeeeeezzzz....

Just because the three times I've seen you happen to be the same three times I've risked a burger at a football match/smashed one down on a misery-line commuter train after a skin-full....

Very good lyrics though...

:hilarious:

Being a septic, I always assumed the home he left in Georgia was Georgia, USA rather than Georgia, USSR.

SBH don't know if you can help on your travels but....

I've been around the world, but i can't find my baby....

For the avoidance of doubt, I am the sceptic and the late, great Otis Redding Jr was the septic. If I was a septic, I might also be skeptic.

Although I did once leave my home and once I got to 'Frisco Bay, I did spend some time sittin' on the dock of the bay, sittin' when the evening comes watching the ships roll in and whistling. One thing which did come my way, was the distinctive aroma of the sea lion colonies.
