Singh when we're winning ..

Next up at the Hall is Jarnail Singh who takes charge of the first game of 2008. A referee who likes to let the players get on with it. It will be his 6th visit and the other 5 have all been home wins !!

Low card count, but surprisingly still awaiting his first card-free match after nearly four years.

Before that we have Dennis Wise’s mate, Nigel Miller at Donny. Anyone who can upset Wise can’t be all bad, but I’d prefer to have him for a home game. Did Luton & Southampton away last year and, of course, Leeds at home. Generous with his red cards. Another plus , he sent off Thornton earlier this season.

Record aside, I always thought this guy was a decent referee....tends to let games flow as far as I remember.
Lets hope he puts in a real 'homer' performance!

By all accounts Mr Singh upset George Burley with his handling of the Col Ewe v Saints game yesterday.

I've always thought he has been very good on his visits to Roots Hall, but didn't he have a bad one at Crawley when Steve Hammell got injured and Foran got a red card?

good ref.. shame he still stands out as one of the very few asian(sikh) guys in the game but he also stands out as a good ref.

I didnt think he did a lot wrong at Layer Road yesterday, he let the game flow and any dodgy decisions were split fairly evenly between the two sides, Burley has always been a whinger!

How are things C&P? Are you lot really playing as badly as your league position suggests?

As a supporter of many years standing I can say without a shadow of a doubt yes!
We are scoring plenty of goals but conceding too many, we miss Chris Barker and Wayne Brown badly. The new siginings are not that great and there is a general lack of togetherness about the side, this is also affecting the fans where the bond between team and supporters is not at the level it was over the last few seasons. I think we could improve if we get a few new players in during the transfer window, but as you guys found last season not too many decent players are interested when the money on offer is comparably poor and there is a survival fight in the offing.

I honestly hope you guys stay up and we get promoted (as unlikely as this looks at the moment!)...working on Cuckoo Farm at the moment and there are some very decent people at the Club.
Essex really deserves two Championship clubs.

Working at Cuckoo Farm eh, I work at Rapid just on the roundabout as you will turn left for the stadium when its finished. Thanks for the good wishes, I have to say it looks grim at present our message board looks like this one did last season :)

I hope you guys get promoted as well if we stay up, it would be good to see a local derby full house (all 10k of them :hilarious: ) at the new stadium.

Well the stadium is looking good regardless of capacity so at least you have this to look forward to!

wtf is this a love in, nope I hope col utd go down and then struggle in their new stadium which the should do in front of 3,500 crowds, and then go down again, or preferably go bust no place in essex for these 8thwits

not a real no history no tradition, highlights winning the fa trophy I rest my case

With the exception of MK Dons, I don't want to see any fellow league club go bust. And like it or not Colchester are the nearest we get to a local derby / rivalry.

Maybe so, but I'd prefer a county where all football fans support local Essex sides and the numbers of plastic cockney, spurs, **** and chelski fans are a dying breed....won't happen, but having two good Championship sides can only help.

It works both ways with his low card count, did he or did he not oversee one of our friendlies this year where we had players injured due to the "tackles" flying in.

Although primarily I want Col U to go down, it is sad to see the bottom of the Championship filled with the little clubs. Thanks to the ridiculous Parachute money being dished out these days it's going to be even harder for the Scunthorpes, Southend (at Roots Hall) and Lutons to maintain position in the Championship when they are up against teams happily spending upwards of £1m on players.

Yes, he did.

At least two clubs who played friendlies at Crawley won't be going back next season. In many ways friendlies are not easy to referee if not being played in the right spirit. Mr Singh came up short in that game but his record in competitive matches is good.

I 'kin hate Col Ewe but I wouldn't wish them to go bust. As canveyshrimper says, that's going a bit too far.

Would love to see them get relegated with an embarrassingly low points total though.
